I am brand spanking new to RC and my second purchase is the Twin Hammers. Saw it, loved it and wanted to get a kit. Found out there wasn't one and said Oh well . . .

I would have expected (ass u me) that a RTR would have been setup correctly. Having done a little research I saw the shift servo needs attention. I would have expected it to have been corrected by now but no big deal. I will just get familiar with the servo's. AND I will check the battery type.

Just wish UPS would get here. Tuesday is SO far away.

More addicting than porn.

I changed out my radio for my full flashed GT3C as soon as the hammer arrived, and setup the servos carefully... and after a hundred hours it still has all the stock servos in it... and they work perfectly also. The endpoints is critical, as well as shifting while the motor is slowly turning.. also critical. That allows the linkage to mesh the new gear selection with low torque on it, as well as rotating gears to line up nice and easy. Dead stop shifting will burn up this tiny servo board.
A larger servo doesn't fix the problem of bad endpoints, it just makes the new servo run hot.

Another tip:

The trans comes completely GREASE FREE and if you want to run a trans totally dry, that's your choice, but I'd strongly recommend a thorough coating of white grease everywhere before you ride!

It's a very durable rig for the price and the design. I have only burned out my shift servo like most people, and broken one front tie-rod. And I have cartwheeled it down a pretty steep hill and off a good 10 foot drop. It's definitely designed well enough to survive a new driver, I believe, but that shift servo issue should have been found in testing. I just ordered new body panels and battery tray, though, as that did snap a bit when I tightened down on a battery.
