Default Twin Hammers Motor and ESC questions

I just picked up my Twin Hammers and I'm already day dreaming of motor and ESC upgrades. I'll keep the stock set up until I wear it out but until then, what would you recommend for a brushless system for rock crawling /bashing?

Mine should be in tomorrow. I will be putting in a Castle Creations Mamba Max Pro and a Trinity 13.5 Nemisis that I have rolling around my race bag. If i find thats not enough and the drive terrian can handle it, possibly a Tekin Pro 4 3300.

I'm going to be installing a Mamba Max Pro and a Tekin ROC 412 3100KV in mine. I will run it stock, just so I have the comparison.

This is a great system. I use it in a few on my other trucks. Dynamite Tazer 1/10 4 pole 2800Kv ESC/Motor Combo (DYN4941C)

Since I'm on a budget and this truck will be pretty much a go fast basher do you think a Castle Creations Sidewinder v3 motor and esc would work in my Twin Hammers?

Chris
I'm assuming your referring to the 4600kv motor? I would not put a 4600kv (or anything higher either) in a Twin Hammers unless all you plan on doing is going fast with it and bashing around. It would not be good if you want to do any serious crawling because 1. it's a sensorless motor and 2. it's to high of a kv and designed to go fast.

You need to keep in mind that the Twin Hammers is a two speed so you don't need to go with anything higher then a 3300kv motor to get it to go fast and if you want it to go even faster get 3s batteries.

I've already swapped mine for a Novak rooster and 35t motor, more a crawler for me though.

With any luck mine should be in my hands tomorrow. I am going to try a 17.5 tekin and a 4000kv pro 4.
Hopefully I can gear down the pro4 enough to get a nice slow crawling speed out of it. Since it runs a big pinion stock I'm hoping there is enough adjustment to run something like a 19t without the motor hitting the gearbox. (any advice on this ?)
The 17.5 was great in the Wraith so it would be my backup, the 4 pole power is the best tho. I dont want to fork out another $150 for a ROC or a 3300kv pro4, that $$ could go into other upgrades

The rs and rock412 in badgers works awesome I have a tekin rs and redline 13.5 that works really well also if you want to go a bit faster than the 412, we are both running 3s 2200's and run time for both in coombination hi/low use is about 1hr great for jumping and crawling

I have a RX8 with a 10.5t redline installed today, stock spur gear with a 23t pinion, speed is very nice can't wait to take it out on the rocks. But I will be going with a 4000kv Pro4 since its just laying around after I get the smaller shaft rotor.

I got the chance to play with a Twammer today. I know this much, it needs a new ESC and motor (at least for what I want). There's a delay in the ESC that's not acceptable. I'm wanting more torque and control for crawling, but still have the speed. I saw where northernbill put in a 35 turn. I'm kinda hovering between a 20, 27, or 35 turn motor and a Goat 3S to pick up some lost speed. Is there a better combo?
