Default Battery Upgrade

So, the 2000ma 2s run time is ok, but I want more.

I remember reading that the battery tray is designed to accommodate a bigger battery.

The only things I can find here is where people changed the motor and esc and went 3s.

What is the biggest 2s that will fit in this beast. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will want this upgrade.

I ordered the Dynamite 2s 4000mah with my TH. It is the factory battery upgrade. I have not tried it yet. Haven't even killed the factory 2000mah. It was too cold out today to drain the stock battery.

Thanks for the replies!!!

How are the run times on the 4000?

The 2000 isn't bad, but I'm used to the times with my 5000ma in my 45T wraith.

RockConcepts had a battery rec in Badger's thread here:
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/vater...ml#post4157417

Any of the "shorty" 2S lipo's should fit fine in the TH. I think the shorty packs were originally intended for the Losi 22.

Im looking at these Turnigy nano-tech Shorty 4200mah 2S2P 65~130C Hardcase Lipo Pack (ROAR APPROVED)

and this Dynamite 7.4V 4000mAh 2S 30C LiPo, 96mm, 22

and this Losi Xcelorin 2S Li-Poly 60C Car Battery Pack (7.4V/3800mAh) (96mm) [LOSB9880] | RC Cars & Trucks - A Main Hobbies

I'm thinking with 4000mah pack run time should be around an hour give or take.

the stock 2000mah was preety nice, but i'm used to my venom creeper with 1300(about an hour) and 55T motor.
i may buy this gens ace 4200 lipo:
Gens Ace 60C 4200mah 2 Cell Lipo Battery Shorty-Pack for 1:10 2WD Buggy, 1:10 Touring (Front Wheel Drive)

Yea I like that Gens Ace too. Better than Turnigy matter of fact. But it's been out of stock for a couple weeks.

About 2 minutes into my planned runtime test for the Dynamite 4000mah shorty pack, my shift servo died. I've never experienced a servo-death before but when my shift servo went, the entire rig went dead... Once I figured out that the shift servo was dead, I unplugged it to find that my TH would at least accelerate and steer again.

Planning on running it on the rocks in the back yard tomorrow in 1st gear only to see what kind of runtime I could get on a trail run. I will post my findings here.

ive got a 2800mah in mine..and probably as big as ill go with this rig.

a bigger battery is gonna throw off how it jumps and add more
weight to the rear.

I was wondering about that. Exactly which 2800mah are you using? And what run time are you getting?

Can I put a venom 5000mah 2s lipo on the stock electronics? I know it will need modification. Just wondering if that will damage the esc and whatnot

Yea that battery will work fine w/stock electrics. But you'll have to MAKE it fit and it'll be a lot of weight high in the chassis.

Yeah it will but heck for an hour of run time it's worth it! I'll probably put weight in the front wheels to even it out!

I've just ordered the hobbyKing 4200mah 96mm lipo. Same dimensions.

$33 I think they are. Turnigy Nanotech.

Here comes the newb questions.. :-)
Does that fit in the stock location? Can I use charger that came with TH for that battery or any other lipo for that matter?

The stock charger strangley uses the balance leads to charge. It will take a long time to charge a 4200mah with that one.

I bought these because they do fit being 96mm.

The battery is easy to get to and change so I don't see the need to slap big heavy packs. just get a couple of small packs.

I ran a 2200 3s and got about 45mins of runtime out of it i think... didn't time the session. I had another pack ready to go...

Just ordered a 4200mah. I'm interested to see how long it takes to charge with the TH charger. I might need to upgrade to something better.
