Just curious- can you play in the mud with a brushless setup

Seeking a new Brushless motor ESC combo, so I can get better battery life, and perhaps a little more speed. It may not just be slower ... In addition to motor and ESC everything should be "out of the box". It will be used mainly for fun, and a little bashing. So what do you say LRP Vector K4 Brushless Motor - 13.5T and LRP Spin Super Brushless Speed Control for my Twin Hammers? |

@dbuus The speed will be about the same when combined with a 31t pinion, maybe faster by a tad even. It will, most certainly, accellerate faster. I, myself use a Stoc-spec 10t Lrp, mainly for the speed, but it's a tad too fast for controlled crawling (power is no problem though, with enough grip I don't "crawl", I just "launch" the TH over the rocks like a frog on speed.. ) A 13.5 would be a good middle of the road replacement. Plús, it runs, like, forever on a 2000mah pack. Just look at it this way: the 15t stock can in the kit is about 3500kv, but the loss under load is much, múch higher than with a brushless, so, the 3000kv of the LRP runs faster, in the end. And the torque of a 13.5 brushless is about 1.5x that of a brushed can of comparable Kv (300+ n/cm compared to the 175 to 200n/cm with optimum load, the brushed can musters). Which also means you can use bigger pinions and/or smaller spurs. Hope this helps. Last edited by Jay-Em; 03-09-2013 at 07:02 AM. |

sorry for this question. Have a 10.5 Nosram sensored here which i wanna feed with a 3s 2200mah battery (3s so with small size longer runs ) What pinion should i get to have not heathen up the engine. Would mainly do slow trailing/crawling stuff with the Hammers. Or is it just better to upgrade for 13.5 sensored motor? thx |

@Jay-Em Thanks for the reply Jay-Em. Since it is very little I am going to rock crawling, I will get more fun out of it by buying 10.5T (can be purchased for the same price as a 13.5T)? |

@dbuus Yup! If crawling isn't Your main goal, the 10.5 t will be very nice. I got a 6.4t 4600 kv k4 laying around somewhere. I think I will try that one too. Those k4's are pretty powerful. My Wraith hits 45km/u with it on just 2s., Undergeared as it is. Way more powerful than the velineon, ánd the sensor makes for butter-smooth handling an accelleration. (Twisted the Wraith's drive-axles into pretzels though.. ) And the k4's all cost the same. @Frakke: hou er rekening mee dat met 3s, je een kleiner motor tandwiel dan stock moet gebruiken, anders verbrand de boel. Volt-up and gear-down is het devies. Last edited by Jay-Em; 03-09-2013 at 03:16 PM. |

If the motor gets hot, then the pinion is too big. Due to the increased amp-draw with heavier gearing, the motor will draw more amps--> more amps=more heat. (Depends on the ESC though.. if it can deliver the amps the motor asks, an under spec'd ESC will heat-up no matter what.) It's a delicate balance. Just experiment. | |

So I got my LT4 ready, its programmed and ready to go, still waiting on my 10.5t hobbywing motor. I happened to over look that the motor, though it is 10.5t, is only 2200kv. What speeds do you guys think I'll yield on 3s, with say, stock gearing?

Which HW 10.5 are we talking about? 2200kv sounds oddly low for a 540 10.5t. Most 10.5t are between 3300 and 3500kv, like the xerun. It's like this : 3s=11.1v x 2200kv=24400rpm for the Hobbywing. 2s=7.4 x 3500kv=25900rpm for the stock 15t (kv is an educated guess) The stock brushed can has a far lower efficiency, so the HW10.5t will be faster on 3s. No idea by how much, though. One thing I dó know, the HW10.5t -ìf it's indeed 2200kv- will run for much longer on the stock 2000mah dynamite than the stock 15t brushed can. Plús it will hardly wear. |

i agree with Jay-em. 2200kv seems low for a 10.5 ! Have a 10.5 Nosram (or LRP) here and it is rated 3600kv!!

I'll send you guys the exact link, plus a few for reference. HAHAHAHHAHAHA, I must be on drugs..... As I'm looking for the information everything does say 3300kv *face-effing-palm* Ignore ALL of that crazy talk about 2200kv hahahahahaha. ROFL |

OK, so I got the brushless hobbies LT4 esc and their 17.5 turn motor. They work great and have excellent low speed control and throttle response. The problem is on 3s it has the same top speed as stock elecs on 2s. Does this sound normal? I expected it to be a decent bit faster, especially on 3s. Any input would be great as I am fairly new to brushless systems. It is sensored BTW
