it works as a trail truck,, need to put a good shift servo in it tho, mine was fried right out of the box,, and maybe lock the front end, with it open it takes a lot of hammering down to make it up hills, over rocks, thru mud, and such,,

Mine will be set-up as a trail rig with a 35T motor on 3s. The 3s will give me decent speeds in high gear, and loads of torque in the low gear for creeping. Will have to upgrade the ESC for 3s though. I would definitely adjust the front diff as well. My servos have all been acting fine so far, just make sure you take the time to fine tune the throw so as not to add extra stress on the servo or it will fail. It helps that I used a DX3C radio with digital trims instead of the potentiometers on the stock radio.

Turning mine into a mini trophy.... As for the servos if you take the time to set them up before using them you should be good... A lot of guys are up grading the steering servo and using the stock steer for the shift duties

Definitely lock the front for a trail rig. I was dissappointed with its crawl ability at first. But the locker helps. I'm just used to my wraith |

Biggest gripe with trail running and crawling is the steering lock, piss poor if you are used to a Honcho or Wraith. Hopefully someone will build a better steering assembly instead of the average one that is borrowed off the Losi 22 buggies.

I'm runnning 1 million cSt diff lube in the front and it makes a tremedous improvement over the stock grease. You get enough drag to power up the rocks with still having the advantages of having a differential. Of course now they have some 2.5 million cSt. I heard Silly Putty works well to stiffen up diffs as well. That would definately be a less expensive option. Nexus Racing USA - Lubes & Greases Pure Silicone Diff Fluid - 1 million cSt= Other things I have done: Full size shift servo mod MMP Tekin Redline 13.5 Turn Castle BEC Home made, aluminum roof panel and hood. In the process of making my own light bar. Didn't like how the first one came out, so will be starting a new one when I can get to working in the shop, maybe this weekend. Been digging out from the 2013 snow storm for the last few days. |

im building mine to stay just @ stock form.. ive swapped out servo for a hitec mg and the esc for a sidewinder. left the stock motor..added a heatsink to it. locked the front..way better on rocks added a winch w stand alone battery. im probably gonna keep it on 2s.. once the stock motor goes i have a HH motor planned for install. im not big on go fast power like some are overkilling with the motor swaps.. |
