| MIP ..... Twin Hammers Thread
Hey guys this is Matt over at MIP (Moores Ideal Products). We have been hearing alot of chatter about this new car and are intrigued to get one and start tearing into her! But before that we wanted to consult the best of the best on this platform! As many of you know MIP specializes in drivetrain parts and with any platform in this industry there has to be a need or incentive for customers to gravitate towards aftermarket products over OEM. So do you guys think that the Vaterra Twin Hammers drivetrain needs a dose of MIP lovin !? Last edited by MIP MATT; 03-08-2013 at 12:47 PM. |

From what ive read and heard, the drive cups up front are very soft. Its a cvd at the knuckle and a dog bone at the diff, and the cups on the diff are wearing quickly. Front center is the same set up... half cvd, half dog bone. Not alot of problem there, its pretty well protected. The center rear, however, is WEAK. |

Now for the fronts, are they a CVD or CVA? From what I hear people are breaking the front shafts when you lock up the front diff? And ya the metal must be of lower quality when it wears and notches like that. We will look into that as well but center shafts would be the first ones to come out Last edited by MIP MATT; 03-08-2013 at 02:10 PM. | |

Heck just make the fronts too. I'm sure all of us using brushless power on 3s would like it. Now if we can find someone to make a better steering kit....lol |

outdrives up front for sure. please dont do the weird rounded edge hexes with the recessed slot running around them that are on the slash 4x4 keyed axles. those are horrible. |

The front driveshafts are VERY similar in design (if not identical) to the Losi Comp Crawler V3 fronts. I don't know about the materials used, but the Comp Crawler shafts rarely break although they do wear pretty quick. If anything, I'd say concentrate on the rear driveshaft setup as it's the proven weak point for the time being. Fronts I'd address with probably a stronger diff cup as that's where it's wearing now. I wouldn't recommend focusing on the rear driveshaft when the Wraith one works fine, but theres zero hop ups for the front ends that have dog-bones shearing off most trucks that has locked front diff, if you have't blown your front dog-bone pins yet, do a jump while hitting nose 1st while on the throttle some, boom broken, almost every time, MIP's would kick a$s for that! Make the rears later, fronts are dying for MIP!
