Default New Aluminum wheel hex fits but pin is small issue

So I replaced my plastic hex's with aluminum for obvious reason, the rims actually snap into these with a small pin AND noticed the hex's came with a bigger pin that DIDNT fit in the TW , SO I used my semi bent smaller ones. Are you guys using these small ones with a brushless setup ( more power) or did u guys upgrade the axle part to a bigger one?

I cut up a small allen wrench that fit into the hole. The allen wrench is much better material than the stock pins. I don't know which aluminum hexes you bought, but the Losi clamp on variety is great! They clamp on tight enough to take some stress off the shear pins. I'm not expecting any more problems out of my pins now.

Those pins are 1.5 instead of 2.0 like an axial pin.. u don't need to upgrade those if you go brushless. I left mine stock and just added a 2mm set screw.. clamping hex are nice but I'd stick closer to the losi brand....

sent from my Galaxy S3 on Verizon

I might have to cut up an Allen wrench if these pins break. Good idea!
Thanks guys

I just drilled out the axles for bigger pins so I could use the axial hexes. Very very easy to do.

I use the losi clampers, and love 'em. Ones from the night crawler, I believe.

I used a set of losi aluminum lock ons that I got TLH. They were to small ID so I just drilled them out to fit and their awesome! The plus side is they acted as a small spacer giving more wheel clearance.

I almost did this, but was worried the pin might rub on the knuckle housing since the stock pin is more or less touching already. Axial pin works without rubbing?

Just an FYI that Hot Racing has some aluminum clamp on hexes designed specifically for the TH. I picked some up at the LHS yesterday and they appear to be pretty nice.

Since i had some axial pins and hexes already i decided to go ahead and drill out for the bigger pins. No problems, works great! Only thing was i had to resharpen my little drill bit 3times-those axles must must be made of fairly hard steel
