Default Blue Monkey upright shock mount ?s and battery relocation ?s

I have been looking at the Blue Monkey upright shock mount for the TH. I have a few questions concerning using a battery up from on the mount. For you guys running a battery upfront in the shock mount, what battery are running size wise and how easy is the removal and replacement of batteries while out playing? I like the idea of mounting the battery upfront and also the possibly a bigger battery. I am looking at 2S batteries also. No 3s. I have searched through the threads and I have not really seen a straight answer on this one.

Thanks

I'd say about 1300mah 3s would fit great...but you want 2s....so maybe 3300mah, 2650mah looks like great fit. Did you look at pic on thier site?

Upright Shock Mount for Vaterra TH, Blue Monkey RC Goto www.hobbyking.com or www.hobbypartz.com look at their lipos and get your ruler out....make a cardboard mockup of the battery if it seems close.

I been looking on the site for sure. I see the battery he is showing mounted upfront. Just wondering what others are running and how hard is it to swap out the batteries when one dies.

I have been shopping on hobby king as well. Just wanting to check on things before I place some orders.

Thanks for the reply and info.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks. How does it perform with the battery upfront like that? I will mainly be using mine for trail riding and crawling. Bashing a little

Looking at doing something similar with mine. But when jumping the front is already nose heavy and rear is rather light in the turns. How has the front mount affected the handling?

for me it's great. I do trailing with this rig. I have much more front traction. Offcourse if you still want to jump it, like you mentioned it gets nose heavy. Lttle jumps will be no problem but big airs will become difficult!!

I think the crawl and trail performance went way up with the front battery. Here's a little vid of ours on the trails and some description too. The front battery gets the crawl weight in a nice spot and clears up some other space out back for more scale looks also.
I can't imagine using a 3s in there! WOW, I'm just on a 22oo 2s nano, and it's already 4 hrs running, and tons of power. (20t pinion, though)

It's the Axial SCX10 shock with a traxxas ball end added inside to make it 85mm.

Link for the shocks: Axial 61-90mm Aluminum Shock Set (2) but I used the stock plastic units. Same size.

Anyone know if the 85mm G made shocks meet the 60mm dimension?

What do you mean that you added a traxxas ball end inside to make it 85mm?
Inside the shock body to limit the shaft?

That's right. The shock is a 90mm length, so I tuned it up a bit.

Wish I would have seen not released until June 11 on your site a week ago. Might have been there but didn't seem to pop out. So I ordered the Blue Monkey mount instead. Looks like I'll have to order them both now...
