subaru brat hammers so I made a Subaru brat twin hammers. It has cut Tamiya Brat body, with a bed and rear firewall. The body allowed me to move the battery to the front with the stock tray. It has the following mods: AE2 esc (stock axial esc) Brood Stump Humper motor Hitek 7954 steer servo front locker stock steering servo performing shift duties PittBull tires and RC4WD bead locks castle BEC 3s lipo The Crawlspace in Arvada, Co helped out with all the parts. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10...12843689_o.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10...130527_001.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10...130602_001.jpg |
Re: subaru brat hammers too cool. |
Re: subaru brat hammers Huge Subaru fan here :) Brilliant idea and body !!! |
Great looking Hammers. Nice job! |
Re: subaru brat hammers Sweet ride! Way to think outside the box!"thumbsup" |
This thing is great! Twin hammers are ugly as sin out of the box but I love this. |

I am a huge Subaru nut too. I've been driving them for 17 years now, and even ran a Subaru performance shop in NC for awhile. I have always had a soft spot for the older ones, saw this body, and had to do something with it. |
Re: subaru brat hammers Totally awesome! Way to go! |
Re: subaru brat hammers Well I ordered a GCM upright shock mount, and bought some proline shocks, radiator and exo rear light bar, new roof rack, and rear sway bar. Can't wait to get that stuff installed and see how she handles now. Plus I think the scale appearance of the GCM hoop shockmounts and proline shocks sticking out of the hood will look sweet! |
Re: subaru brat hammers Love it! I'm a Brat fan as well, I used a Tamiya body for one of my first "scalers" 4-5 years back... |
Re: subaru brat hammers best lookin TH I've seen. wonder if I could do something like this for a g6 car. |
Re: subaru brat hammers I use mine for G6's. I've tried to do scale comps but the turning radius sucks and because the layout of the body it puts me into a class i can't really compete with. I still do the comps because they're fun, but this baby really shines in the G6 and terra X races. I'm about to go brushless with it. MMP and Roc 412 3100kv should do the job! |
Re: subaru brat hammers Well it placed 4th in my local scale comp this weekend and 6th overall out of all the classes having 26 entries. In my class (1.9) I finished under 2 team drivers and the owner of the scale shop. Not bad for my 2nd comp |
Re: subaru brat hammers I got the GCM mount in and ordered a Derwood design steering kit. I also went with a HH torquemaster motor. Still going brushless, but not right now. Also, my front bumper grill on the brat broke off, so I'll need to fix that. I changed a few things around with the scale accessories and added a Dinky RC LED light bar too. I'll get some picks up soon. The rear sway bar and upright front shocks make it handle killer. |
Re: subaru brat hammers OK, so here are some more updates. The brat body was painted again and I added some more scale items for points at comps. Here is how it looked while in comp mode. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10..._124134396.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10..._124826276.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10..._122759031.jpg All of that came to a stop after moving to SoCal from Denver. There weren't many places to crawl local to me and the brat body had survived 2 years of comps and G6's. I needed to do something else. So a complete tear down and rebuild is what I did. It received the following: new MMP Hitec 7950TH for steering BEC set at 7.4v Hitec 7954SH for tranny BEC set at 6.0v Tekin ROC 412 was taken out and a Tekin Pro4 4x4 short course 4600KV installed VP knuckles and castor blocks Fast Freddy bearings Axial lights/controller Warn wireless winch controller for 12v action new body panels EXO rear light bar/radiator front light bar roof rack And here is how it looks now: |

I changed the ROC out for the Pro4 4x4 shortcourse but didnt get a pic. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y10..._134917187.jpg |
Re: subaru brat hammers Its maiden voyage will be today. Ive had such a hard time with this thing. Its like it is possessed. It just eats up motors, ESC's, servos like its cool. Its had 4 steering servos fry, 4 MMP's fry, 2 BEC's stop, a ROC 412 fry, and the receiver once. No one knows why. Think its all sorted out though. I ran 2 3s 1800 mah packs through it last night just bashing kind of in my back yard. Its going to hit the rocks today. Also some things on order are 85mm King shocks for the front, new CI foams, and new front axles since mine are getting kind of worn out. Im also getting the VP trailing arms soon and 110mm King shocks for the rear. |
Re: subaru brat hammers great job ! lovin the tamiya brat !! big tamiya vintage fan here |
Re: subaru brat hammers Me too. I am going to rebuild one on a SWB Axial SCX set up. That way I can use the whole truck instead of just the cab. |
Re: subaru brat hammers That Suby body was awesome! Definitely have to see it reused again! Your TH looks great with the scaler parts! |
