| Snicklefritz'z TH "Dave's Not Here"
I've been loving my twin hammers and I have some parts waiting to change it up so I decided to start a build thread. I'm gonna do a truck body. Upright shock kit, and try to maximize the crawling characteristics. I'll backtrack tomorrow to bring this up to date, but here's the body I'll hack-to-fit: It's a Parma Blackfoot. Only $17.88 on Amazon. so I don't feel bad at all about cutting it up. Last edited by snicklefritz; 07-15-2013 at 03:48 PM. |

It was my first rc, too! . I got it used off a buddy, painted the body blue and made it look like a prerunner. |

I got the TH used with a busted shifting servo and tan colored panels and wheels. It had a AE-2 esc and stock 15 turn motor. After one run at Vasquez Rocks on a warm day, I switched to a 21 turn Traxxas motor. I've been running that since and it'll do for now. I'm leaving the busted shifting servo in place to hold the tranny in low for crawling. I also put in an Hitec 645 steering servo and painted up some fresh body panels: and handed driving duty over to Tommy Chong: and got some Scale Shop RG 1.9 beadlocks for my birfday. |

| Re: Snicklefritz'z TH Thanks, dude. Ok, so the next bright idea was to fit a lexan "sand scorcher" body to the TH. a little off the back: and a little off the front: It's streched around the cab a little because the VW is more narrow than the cage It's held on with these Traxxas posts. Who doesn't like easy access? That'll do. And that's how my TH sits today. The changes I have planned are BMRC upright shock kit, RC4WD aluminum shocks, front battery relocation with cage mod, and a stronger servo. Oh, and the Ford F-150 body mention in my original post. |

Check out the Derwood Designs steering kit. Probably the most substantial upgrade I've made for cheap. Car looks great!

I'm gonna use this for crawling and not a dual sport. It is a good, low slung crawler so with a few tweaks it should be even better. I was looking at that in their thread. Does it help the wheels turn when pressed up against rocks or is it more of a go fast upgrade?

| Re: Snicklefritz'z TH Not really, that would be servo strength. What it does is, it takes the slop out of the steering which makes crawling far more predictable. It is a great all around upgrade.

Well, I never got the Blackfoot to work on my TH. The front tires still rubbed after narrowing the front and the rears didn't come close to the step side wheel wells. It was just too much for lexan, I guess. Somebody else should do it in styrene. I did fit this Parma '67 F-100 though. . Instead if narrowing the front I just opened it up. I still think it looks enough like a truck to say I accomplished what I set out to do. |

| Re: Snicklefritz'z TH Thanks, Josh! Your old hammers is still kicking! Quote:
The Pro-Line merv bug fits too, and it's probably more durable. The one I did was stretched around the A pillar and scary thin Lexan. I was never really comfortable with it. The way to go will be with a hard plastic Sand Scorcher shell. I just wasn't up for that. Maybe next time.
