Crawl Hammer, my version of the Vaterra TH

I'm currently working on my Hammer!

I already changed the stock electronics to a Sidewinder 3 ESC, 45t Integy Motor, 10A CC Bec, Hitec Servos.
I mounted the factory locker up front and the medium sway-bar in the back.
All this made a big difference and i like the little rig a lot!
Now i ordered some TSL XL and axial 1.9 rims.

To make it more scale-looking and to handle better in the rocks i want to change the front suspension to an upright system with SCX shocks and hoops:

I want to try to connect the hoops to the Derwood steering plate (Btw: GREAT PRODUCT!!!!)or make a copy of the plate, extending it to the sides...

It would be nice to position the LiPo next to the tranny, anyone tried this before with a shorty pack?
Any ideas how to mount the steering servo on top of the al-plate?

Derwood is working on a mod that moves the steering servo up on top the the shock plate but he said its about a month away.

Your twin hammers looks good so far!

Tomster nice build so far. Here is what I did! (Sorry guys it's not the cleanest mod, but it works very well.) Although I use my twin hammer more for track bashing, rather than crawling. The 4200 shorty packs fit perfect. I mounted another dummy servo behind my regular servo. The Velcro straps works just fine to keep it place. I can change the battery through the window, with out removing the body. For me this mod help me get a lower COG, I roll over way less now! Not sure how this would work for crawling. Curious to see what you come up!

Can you get a picture of what it looks like with the cage on or how you get it in and out.

I was having a very similar idea to lukekang77 with the battery. I was going to wait for the derwood shock relocation and mount the ESC where derwood has a servo placed. I'd like to see more pictures.

It was hard to get a clear picture, but I think you get the idea. I'm not a huge scale guy, so I didn't really miss the interior being gone.

Newbie here! Not sure why it won't let me post more than one pic at a time. I am well below the max KB's per file?? Bare with me until i figure it out:oops:
Here another pic with body on. The battery barely squeezes out the drive side window. Don't get me wrong it a total PITA to change the battery, but you get use to it. The performance gain is worth it for me!

that is the Smartest shock tower design yet. Using parts already made and bolting to a fairly simple bottom plate.. I bet if it was mainstream it would be a fairly cheap option. Plus the axial towers have 3 shock positions to help with tuning. You better protect your idea and market it.

Nice build! Keep it going. What turn motor is that and how does it compare to the stock motor? Because I'm looking for a new motor, my stock motor is on it's way out.

Re: Crawl Hammer, my version of the Vaterra TH

Thanks man!

This is a mock up motor i used to fit everything.
i will get a HH 35T Pro and using it together with a Castle SW3 on 2S for now.
As the thread name says Im more into crawling than run this little guy fast...
But i think with a 35T on 3S you will have a lot of fun in both worlds, the stock 15 imho is to fast and poor on torque.

nice build.

what gauge aluminum plate did you use for your front mount? any pics from the top showing where you brought it out for the shock tower mount?

i've been working on a similar setup for mine. i was planning on using square aluminum keystock bent into hoops similar to what you are doing with the scx10 shock hoops.
