Question Transmitter help/recommendations

I am pretty new to this. I decided to jump in with both feet and buy a TH. I got a great deal on one that already has the GCM upright front shock towers/battery tray, axial shocks, locked front dif, and sway bar. It has stock esc and servos, but no transmitter, receiver, or battery. I was hoping to use a traxxas TQi 4ch. 2.4GHz transmitter I got from a friend. Will there be any problems with this? If so can you recommend a transmitter and receiver that is a step up from the stock Spektrum DX3e that is not too pricey. I was hoping for less than $150 for the pair. If that is not a realistic price please tell me what is, and throw some recommendations at me. I believe you get what you pay for. Plus any recommendations on new servos, esc, tires, batteries, and anything else would be greatly appreciated. Also any thoughts on the GCM rear truss? Thanks!
