Dude, true story actually.

Just yesterday I was bashing and noticed a little extra wobble. Got home and noticed that one of the pin setscrews loosened up and the pin was trying the slide out! There was a shiny spot on the little spring retainer where it had been contacting the plastic. Cut a new pin out of a drill bit and loctited it into place.

I wouldn't consider a stock Wraith kit style U-joint a solution. I have those in my Wraith and a I'll go through a set a year, and an IFS rig is going to run them at a much steeper average operating angle which diminishes the lifespan.

Plus, the Axial universals, even when new, definitely still make the front of my Wraith shake if it run it full speed and full lock simultaneously. Kinda helps get it unstuck, kinda annoying.

What I really want are miniature RCV style constant velocity joint, complete with the orange stiff boots, and chromo shafts with greasable joints.

I was dreaming the other night of a custom front diff housing with huge bearings so that the inner joint pivots could be closer together inside the bearings. Be spool only, because there'd be no room for any of the spider gears. That way longer shafts, with less plunge at a given travel, could be used.

It is not a just a dream it could happen. I have contacted these guys a few times now trying to talk them into making axles for the twin hammers. Maybe if all of us start emailing them we can show them there is enough interest for them to make some.

The odds of the critical dimensions being close enough to work with is pretty slim. It's like pulling a axle from a '45 wilys and hoping it will work in a Tacoma. Aint gonna happen

x2. Those TVRs are the business. Though it still doesn't solve the suspension travel thing with the dogbone at the inner end.

Wow, those TVRs are very close to what I was imagining. 50* is a lot of steering.

I'm going to E-mail them as well. Figure it can't hurt.

The geometry of the IFS creates a lot of axle plunge. So much so that the only way to increase travel (without increasing track width), and increase useable plunge, is going to be to use another CV joint as the inner pivot and use telescoping splined (hopefully externally greasable) shafts.

Hasn't someone cobbed MIP's into a TH yet? I think there was some machining and welding required?

I was wondering what is going on also, I talked with them a few times then all the sudden nothing and the email link stopped working. I was hoping it was just a link issue but this does not sound good, I hope there still around. Buy what I have been told there product is the best, tough as nails.

Hey Photon, Things are good in Oregon! I have beat the crap out of these and they are still running strong! And, with the extra travel it crawls fairly well. The B4.1 modifcation has held up really good!
