Was wondering if you have the stinger done yet? I know I will be ordering one when they are finished.

When the new parts come in I will test fit them and then run them to make sure they are durable enough. Once I am confident they will hold up and they fit right I will make them available.

Default 3D Stinger Bumper VTH

Got the new bumper in the other day and had time to mount it up and take pics. So here it is.

The Red is the new angle of the screw and the Green is the old angle.

Could you mount it on your TH so that we can get a better view on how it looks?
Thanks

My TH is in for some home brew upgrades right now and is taken apart but you can look at the pics on the first page of the thread. That is the older version but I looks almost exactly the same as the new one.

How did the bumper fare in durability testing ? Is anyone running this stinger?

I didn't run it much as I changed directions on my hammers and the bumper was more of a personal project. It does seem pretty durable now though. However, I do have one or two left from when I was testing. If you would like to try it out I can hook you up just shoot me a pm.

Hi guys, I'm going to revive this thread again as I had a couple members show interest in these bumpers a bit ago. I wasn't happy with the original design so I revamped it and had it printed in shapeways' amazing new HP Strong and Flexible nylon.

Here are some pics.

Looks very interesting!
I tried to search it on Shapeways but could not find it. Have you got a link?
Also, someone said before that it would be good to see it mounted on the TH. have you got any photos that you can post?
Thanks!

Here is the Baracus approved second incarnation of the Di_Spencer Stinger. Apparently more durable than the first version(which I have not managed to break)

No it's actually not on shapeways because I wanted it made out of the far superior HP Strong and Flexible as opposed to the conventional strong and flexible. As soon they release the material for sale it'll be up for you guys.

I just received my stinger not too long ago and sadly it was on its 3d run yesterday. Car did a somersault and this is the end result. Hope the new material is more durable.

Thanks for letting me know about that zumzum. Currently working on a v3 bumper that should be even more durable and reconfiguring my TH a little so I can test these more extensively.

Also, on a different note. I'm also working on some knuckles that use a larger outer bearing as well as have some mounts for rcbros knuckle weights. To compliment those I'm also going to try out making some screw pins to replace the crappy stock kingpin design.

I know there are 1 or 2 others with one of the bumpers so if that's you pls post up and let me know how they are holding up for you. It would be really helpful as I design the new version. Thanks guys

The stinger sure looks great. I've a lot of experience with printed parts, inc Shapeways HP strong and flexible - i'm sorry to say, you are asking an awful lot of it in this application. A front bumper must be the higest load part on a truck by a very large margin.

Yeah, that's the problem I'm having is keeping the look and making it strong enough to hold up. How do you think the steel would hold up? I was trying to stay away from the steel because test prints are so much more expensive but they are still only around $20 so I may look that direction. Thanks for you're input DBX I actually have most of your parts on my TH.

I went through the same thing myself trying to develop a fully upright suspension setup. I thew a load of plastic in it, but a hard impact on the exposed shock towers could still break it. Given how expensive they were to print, there's no way I wanted to sell them if they could be broken like that.

I reckon the printed steel bumper could do great. I love the steel bits I've done. Like you say, they are just a bit pricey. James Knight does a great looking range of steel bumpers for scx10.

I think I'll go towards a steel bumper because I think you are correct that a plastic one will never be strong enough. Do you have any experience prototyping in plastic before making something in steel?
