Default Steering upgrade question

Hi all

I tried to search for a answer but didn't find anything.

Is there any DIY steering mod for the TH?
I don't want to buy something if I don't have to.

Regards

I used an associated b4 steering bellcrank and make a custom mounting plate. PS that is an older pic and I have made a few minor changes since then.

Some have used the Traxxas steering part# 3743A also.

I'm guessing you saw sr. Irie's steering bell crank kit? I would say it is worth every penny I just installed mine. Being a metal fabricator myself I found it was was easier to just buy his ^.^

If your gonna buy things to make it work anyway. *
Couldn't be happier with the TH steering mod from sr. Irie it's like it actually steers meow!

That was just my 2 cents. If you can so it yourself cheaper being over seas I say try it why not..

Hmm maybe that's the easiest solution. To bad that I live on the other side of the Atlantic.

Another vote for the Erie bellcrank being worth every penny. Not only addresses the shortcomings in the stock steering slider rack, but also gets you an indestructible top plate.

I strongly considered trying to make my own plate and use the Traxxas bellcranks, but in the end I decided that Eries bellcranks offerered better geometry with bolt in convenience.

It is a pain in the a$$ to make a bell crank to work with the TH. I started to build one but in the long run get Erie made bell crank.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't buy a bellcrank, they look awesome but I can relate to shipping to Europe from the US not being cheap.

I just made an entire bellcrank system and top plate from aluminium, if you're on a budget or just into making your own stuff I'd say you can do it!

It's a shame that shipping adds so much cost, and then the customs add up to that .

That's a nice custom setup . I looked around a bit and then made about the same setup out of aluminium, battery in front, custom steering, upright shocks...

I just ordered a Wraith kit so I had to keep the cost down on the TH a bit.

I guess both ways of doing have the usual pros and cons depending on what you're using the TH for, mine is just brushed.

You can make a bellcrank steering set up with some of those extra servo horns laying around. Didn't cost me anything.

No I didn't, sorry. It's pretty straight forward. Drilled holes in the bottom of the chassis for the 3mm screws, used appropriate length spacers and re-used the little bearings from the original front shock rockers.
