The parts came in!
I'm really pleased with them. The cage feels easily stiff and strong enough, and it all fitted together with minimal issues. Very happy with the scale looks of it. Not bad for a first off. I was half expecting the first to get scrapped. There are minor tweaks to make if a do another, but definitely just need to do some testing first!

Is there room for a winch up front. If a Hot Racing front bumper/winch mount is used?

This is a blue star worthy part.

I like how you adressed the multiple problems on the front end.
If/when you get your blue star, I will buy one of these front end kits.

Wow, great response. Thanks for the comments guys. I'd better think about running a batch!
I should be gving the car some abuse this weekend, so will see how it all works in action. Meanwhile i've tweaked some of the geometry very slightly, adjusted the way the ball bearings fit and made some nice details like captive nuts on the bell crank pivots.
Can't see any reason why a winch wouldn't work with it. I'd need to see a fitted winch in more detail to be sure.
Next job is to mount the battery way down in all that space thats freed up!

Hoping there is room for a winch mounted like this.

I currently use Shapeways for building these parts. As nice as the parts are, it is pricey. A kit with fixings would need to be about $110 for it to be near worth doing. The Erie parts are going to be better value, and mainly just lack the servo repositioning.

I've just found i seemed to have scrapped my battery - low voltage. Doh! No testing this week. Maybe another can be shoe horned in....
What would the price of just the shapeways pieces be. So we could put together our own hardware and bearing.

Like someone said earlier you could just make it public on shapeways and we could order our own. You can even set it up so that you get a part of the money for each sale.

The bare shapeways parts are the big cost. If i was to sell them direct on shapeways, it'd still be about $100. Would be nice if it was cheaper. I find shapeways postage pricey too. Not sure what its like for you guys in the states?
That makes sense. In the states it is about $5 shipping for everything that I have ordered.

Hey Dbx, I don't want to see you getting trouble on this site, and being a Noob, be careful talking about a price of anything in the tech forum. Even if your not offering it for sale, if you don't have a blue star and talk $$ you could get a warning.
By the way very cool parts!!!

...$100 to subscribe blue dot?. I'm not sure i'd break even! I've deleted Messages regarding selling. Maybe another time.

Good job, believe me, I learned about that the hard way. Having said that, the rules are there for a good reason, and sometime we need to get our hand slapped a little.
