Default Spunky's build (so far)

Hi all,

I have been lurking here for a while asking questions here and there so I though I would do a build thread.

My name is Pierre, 30, and I live in Kariong, NSW in Australia.

I picked up my twin hammers second hand in average condition with no electronics or body panels from a kid who didn't look after it (more didn't know how to look after it).

The first thing I did was rebuild the front and rear shocks with 35wt oil which made a good improvement and put on axial bfgs. (sold the bfg's they were to big and scraped body)

After using it with a 21.5t brushless for some crawling and beach action I found it to be slow and uninspiring. So I upgraded to a 13.5t motor which is much better... Still not fast enough though

Upgrades Complete:
13.5t motor.
120amp esc.
Body panels.

Upgrades Outstanding (preferably in this order):
Metal Gears.
550 4.5/5.5t motor.
Upright shock mount.
G-Made piggy backs front and rear.
Wheels and tires.
Aluminium rear links.

Will keep adding short Vid's to this post.

First outing after installing 13.5 turn motor.

Installed threaded shocks front and rear and spent time tuning the suspension. Can drop it from any "reasonable" hight and it wont bottom out. (Ps. Isn't my daughter cute :P)

Installed medium rear sway bar... HUGE improvement to handling on dirt. I can now corner at full speed and I wont roll. Also... POWER!!

Which 13.5T motor have you installed? She looks to be running nicely

Hi smog.

I'm just running a Turnigy track star 13.5 on a Tamiya TBLE-02 brushless ESC (free donation from a friend).
Goes to show you don't need to spend much money to have fun :-)

In saying that I'm thinking a 550 5.5t motor might be in the works

Go big or go home!

Sounds like you are happy with the 13.5 Turnigy, clearly a sensored motor. How smooth is the low end on it? I have thought of picking one up in a 10.5T for my TH.

Low speed is very smooth. I'm always wanting more speed so I think a 10.5 would be good.

Sr.Irie runs 550 motor so I might try it also.

Finally got my body panels painted.. Looks so much better now :-)

Didn't like the look with the white so I stripped the paint off.

Just need to do my interior.

I created an upright shock plate today. Needs tweaking (and new shocks) but not too shabby for someone who Fix's network storage all day

On the list is new shocks (gmade piggy) with an extended bracket so they are upright and trimming it down so the cage will go back on.

I was bored so thought why not... What will most likely happen is I'll buy one haha!

Will post a video with the first test.

Until FIRE!!!

Did you upgrade to metal transmission gears?
I'm thinking of selling my scx10 which I hardly use because I take this everywhere and use the money to mod the crap out of this... Thoughts?

Yes, I had the metal gears even before I went to the 550. I was able to wear out/break the plastic gears with a brushed motor.
