Open front diff that is not open

My front diff is locked with the spider gears installed...

So okay I got my the kit... and started building it... I'm pretty rc savvy and have built quite a few...

Here is my issue..

I have taken this thing apart twice with the same issue... with the spider gears in my diff and 500k oil (the first time) and just 35wt shock oil the second time...

The drive cups will spin as they should... but when turning the pinion gear you can't stop either wheel...

Both drive cups spin super smooth install it into the case housing install the shaft onto the pinion and test it out... complete locker...

So not what I want...

Do not know if this is it of course but,,,,I had a used one I purchased. I found the two flat spots on the cross shafts that the spider gears run on were not lined up. Which bound the spiders up and made it like a locker.

It is possible... I'm going to get it back apart here soon and double check it as well as the gears...

Re: Open front diff that is not open

I went ahead and ordered a whole new diff set up... something is wrong inside of this one...

On a good note... when my integy parts come in I will be able to build the whole unit and swap it all out without having to take the stock unit apart...

Ordered the whole aluminum set up for the front end...

Re: Open front diff that is not open

Found the issue if anyone else happens to have the same problem...

One of the spider gears did not fit onto the cross shaft... it would slide on one side but not the other...

Jewlers file clean up the offending gear and good as new..
