Thanks onecool54, thats good to know and it looks like it would work very well. Unfortunately, I cant get ahold of derwood. Do you maybe know of any other options that are available?

I still have some of his towers. I bought all that he had left a few years ago since he stopped making them. They are $20 bucks shipped.

There is barely enough room to replace the grub screws with grade 10.9 3x5x.5 buttonhead bolts. The larger 2.0mm driver size allows much better torque to be applied.

What would be the recommended length front shocks for the Derwood? I’m so lazy I’m just now getting around to thinking of mounting it up. Had the TH for months and haven’t ran it more than maybe 10 minutes. Stupid life getting in the way of fun things.

With the GCM mount I started with 80mm and put a 5mm spacer on the shock shaft behind the piston. Just enough to keep the dog bone in the out drive at full extension. I don't know how close the Derwood mount is in height compared to the GCM

That’s what I was thinking. Somewhere in the area of 75-85mm but couldn’t remember. Good call on the dogbone. I’ll see what I can come up with tomorrow.

All I have are 100mm shocks so I used 10mm spacer and a couple of m3 washers...spot on for these shocks. Looks like poo, though. So I’ll rock it like this until I fab one myself.

Static

Dogbone with shocks topped out

Full compression

I’m thinking of murdering the entire thing black.

I’d recommend rotating the axles and checking the dog bone engagement with the pin in the vertical position - this is the position where trouble will occur.
Looks like you’ll get it to work ok though.

That was good, but close. So I poked around and found one piece of scrap aluminum I had. One chance and I measured twice, cut to length, then drilled holes just to bend it in the wrong spot and have it break at the front bolt holes. Another day.... But a 50-55mm rise using this style will clear the 100mm shocks well.

I tried making a similar mount to accommodate the 100mm shocks and it looks bad. My craftsmanship as well as the shocks. They stick up nearly 1” above the hood line. So I scoured the web briefly and ordered a set of SCT shocks. 67-87mm fronts and 70-103mm rears. These should do well. I will replace the bracket where the cantilever shocks were mounted with a strip of 1” aluminum and then I can move the ESC and Rx onto it. That’ll make room for some 3s 1200 shorty packs I have inboard.
