| Jake's Clone Hammers I picked up the WL Toys 10428 recently and figured I'd start a thread so I could document my experiences with it. I'll probably just run it with the stock electronics for as long as I can. They seem alright and work so why fix them haha. Anyways, first thing I did was throw some Axial Shocks I had lying around on the back and tried some 70 weight oil in the front shocks and it has barely slowed them down. I'm thinking some re-valving will fix them. I lost power to my driver rear wheel the first time I took it out and really bashed it and I just figured I had stripped the hex hub out, but to my surprise I had sheared the pin! I decided to look at the other side and it was pretty bent. Another issue I had was that the axle shafts were binding with the outputs from the front diff. After the first bashing they were both worn like the shaft on the right in the pic, but after a little more driving the one on the left obviously broke. I ordered a set of Vaterra front shafts. They will be here soon. Then I need to get some pins and see what breaks next haha. Last edited by Jake; 02-01-2018 at 10:33 AM. |

I nearly got one of these when they first came out and after ‘The Wild Thing’ wasn’t in production. All the yellow steered me away though. Finally a used TH fell in my lap and I bought as quick as I could. I do abuse my 1:12 FEIYUE FY03 every now and again.

| Re: Jake's Clone Hammers Yeah its pretty gaudy. The price was the main thing that made me pull the trigger. Only $108 shipped to my door. Does the FY-03 hold up decent? I initially was thinking about getting that then saw this and did some research and well here we are.

It’s decent at best. The smaller scale limits many crossover parts. That and m2.5 hardware is a pain.

The yellow plastics really turned me off to this particular model too. I ended up coming around and picked up a 10428B recently when Gearbest had it on sale. I've only had it out once so far, and my daughter had 99% of the throttle time, but I like it so far. I'm going to be doing a Harley-ish budget upgrade video series on it soon. I'm excited to see how good I can get it without spending much cash. Last edited by Jim85IROC; 02-01-2018 at 11:33 AM. |

Took apart the trans and front diff today and found both of them to be dry. The front diff did have an oil of pretty thick viscosity in the front diff with the spider gears but as far as the ring and pinion, they were what was dry. Got the trans all greased up. Banggood and Gearbest both periodically put them on sale. I bought mine when it was the regular price, but with the RC18off coupon that Gearbest always has, it was $130. Not a bad deal. Right after I bought mine it went on sale for around $130, but I don't know if the coupon would have worked with the sale price. Right now the 10428b is $175, which is $143 with the RC18OFF coupon. That's a bit more than it was when I bought mine. https://www.gearbest.com/rc-cars/pp_...?lkid=12938108 The 10428 is $156, which is $128 with the coupon. That's not too bad. https://www.gearbest.com/rc-cars/pp_...?lkid=12937987 |

You might be waiting a while... you just missed a deal on the 10428B. $130 was the over/under line for me. If it's under $130, it's worth grabbing. You could end up waiting a long time to save another $10. |

Got the Vaterra shafts in today. Obviously they are shorter but along with that they are a little bit beefier. When I say a little I mean very little. The part of the shaft right down from the dog bone is .005 in. larger and the main part of the shaft is .02 in. larger. I'm hoping these will fix my binding issue. If not then I will start grinding the outputs shorter. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

I’m sure the metal is better quality as well.

| Re: Jake's Clone Hammers More than likely. Finally got them installed and they are much better. No binding at all. Plus they came with pins so I only need pins for the hexes on the rear. I'll be buying those tomorrow. Looks just like the TH where the pins barely catch in the outputs. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk |

Well it's been a while and I haven't been driving this thing very much but I did make a new part for it. I had broken my lower control arm where the pin runs through on the chassis end and had a friend try to 3d print a new one. Once that didn't work I ended up machining one and its held up to the abuse I've put it through so far. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk |

I also got a sway bar kit for the TH so I will be installing that eventually. I'll let you know how it fits! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk |
