Default Servo Winch - Complete with Controller - Part No. SVWN3

This is a basic servo that has been modified for winch operation.

A bobbin has been attached to the servo horn to act as the winch drum.

The stock servo amplifier circuit board has been removed and replaced with one of my No Drift Winch Controllers so you can use this winch with confidence - you won't be constantly fighting with trim controls to stop the winch from spooling in or out when it should just be sitting still.

The winch is not supplied with winch line. The braid on the servo plug is an optional extra for $3 more - it's not everyone's thing.

In case you are interested, the winch weighs about 59 grams.

Part No. SVWN3 $50 plus shipping.
Need a two position controller in your winch instead? Order Part No. SVWN2 for $55

SOFT START! - when you order your winch controller, consider having me install the Soft Start option as it will help save wear and tear on the winch line and drive train.
Read more here: Soft Start Winch Controller

Want a little more power from the winch? Order it with the 4 Amp Relay Output Winch Controller
This will send battery voltage to the winch motor instead of receiver voltage.

As shown in the picture with double XT60 power connector:
Part Number SVNW4XT60 Price $65

With double deans style power connector:
Part Number SVWN4DD Price $65

Thanks.
The servo is a clone of a Toward Pro 996 and it is supposed to have something like 180 oz at 6 volts.
Runs nice and smooth.

Question

Is the winch controller the 3-position third channel, or 2-position third channel controller? Is that a buyer's option?

That's a good question.

The buyer can choose any of the controllers that I offer.
Note that the two position controller would add $5 to the price.
The HV controller would add $10

Just what I was looking for. So if I have a Futaba 4PL, all I need is winch line and a hook and I'm good to go? Are these in stock? What's the shipping cost to 92024? Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott,
I build them as I need them, but I do have a couple in stock.
If the Futaba 4PL has a three position or linear channel, you can run a winch with a three position winch controller in it.
Shipping is $9.
Please send me a PM if you would like to place an order.
Thanks,
Al

Just some feedback on this product. I do not use one. But I did buy 3 of Heyoks controllers a while back. I gave on of them to a friend. He contacted Heyok and got the rest of the parts to make this setup (servo and spool). I had my own servo for it already and did not need the whole setup. We got them working recently (past few weeks). I had already been using one of Heyoks controllers as a replacement for the controller on the 3Racing winch (works excellent). So basically my self and my bud run this setup in a sence. he has this complete setup and my only difference is the servo used and the spool I made.

Yesterday we both entered the local TTC. My friend tied for second but got bumped to 3rd with the tie breaker (3 points away from first) and I took 4th out of 11. 5 and most others down were way out of it, but 1-4 were only separated by 9 points. I would have been lost without this setup. It is really what made a difference in my runs. I was one of only two to finish the double points comp ending "Tank Trap". I will tell you I used this controller a ton durring the comp. There were many sections that you "had" to winch. I also used it at times for caution to avoid a roll out of bounds as my rig is top heavy. It worked completely flawless the entire time. Tons of power and never had issues due to water or mud. We both are using the controller for a 2 position 3rd channel as that is the type of radios we have. I can not be happier with Heyoks products and they are a bargain for what they cost. Both of our rigs can be pulled in the air with the winches as that is the power they have. My 3Racing doesn't even come close. It will help keep the rig going in the right direction but you need to be able to throttle at the same time. It doesn't have the winch power to drag the rig on its own like the servo ones do. You will break the line before the servo winch lets go (happened to my bud, I run a different line and never had a problem, I did come close to breaking the hook though).

Just a great product and a good buy

Winch as it is mounted to underside of SCX10 battery tray. Drilled holes and used typical servo mounts. Clears driveshaft and everything else even with battery tray mounted low to the cross frame. i routed the winch line to the front with a section of brake line.

The rig. SCX10 Honcho kit. Holmes Hobbies BRXL speed control, 35 turn Integny lathe motor, 3s batteries, Hitek 7954sh steering servo,Spektrum DX3S radio. Aluminum knuckles and C's. Steel gears and out drives for transmission. 4Link rear, Wraith shocks and 2.2 sticky Ripsaws. DNA aluminum beadlocks, MIP drive shafts, Winch fairlead from RPP (RC4WD product) on simple homemade aluminum mount. Old Hitek 615mg servo for the winch (older version of the inexpensive but nice 645mg.

The hook as it stretched out but didnt break. I tried to throttle up onto the last obstacle for time while winching in the tank trap. I didn't make it and the rig flung to the side but did not break any of the winch components. I was able to let the winch finish the climb. Time for a better hook!

I'm pretty sure it has Futaba splines. I will confirm that for you though.
Really, I'm just using metal gear, reasonably high torque servos for this. If someone wants me to make one using a Hitec, just ask!

Are you sure?

I'd swear that the Tower Pro servos are Futaba.
