VF/DNA/BWD Dig Unit - How to set your EPA's
 

Ok guys here it is in one easy to find place. These directions should take you through your EPA setup and keep you from frying servos.

1. First off, bolt your dig unit to your transmission.
2. Stop here and make sure you have no binding issues. If it binds here you need to back up and find out why.
3. Pull your servo horn off your servo and power up so it can center. You are going to want to use a small servo horn on the inside hole (closest to the servo horn screw). The servo has the most torque and the least play at this point.
4. Place your servo horn on to where it points as close to straight down as possible
5. Check your third channel in both or all 3 positions (depending on whether you are running 2 or 3 positions). YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE YOUR DIG LINKAGE HOOKED UP YET!!!
6. Now, dial down your EPA's until you have around 1/16" of travel in each direction from center. I know, it's not much, we will adjust out from this point.
7. Prior to bolting up your linkage, adjust the linkage length so that the dig is in freewheel position (you can spin the black anodized outdrive freely without hitting dig or rotating the spur gear) when you line the linkage rod end up with the servo horn hole.
8. Let's go ahead here and operate your switch again to make sure you have very little travel before we actually hook the linkage up.
9. Finally, go ahead and bolt your dig linkage to the servo horn.
10. Now check to make sure you hit freewheel in a good position. You should not be catching on anything if you spin your rear wheels. If it catches (4wd or dig) adjust your center until it stops. This might need more adjusting on step 15.
11. Before operating the dig, place your rig up on something to hold the tires off the ground as we are going to set your 4wd EPA under power.
12. Give it a little throttle and switch the dig into 4 wheel drive. Now let off the throttle with 4wd engaged.
13. Take a close look at your linkage. Now while you are still in 4wd with no power, start adjusting your 4wd EPA towards 4wd (the transmission). You will be able to see the shift fork rod and the dig outdrive moving into the case. Take it in until it stops moving and then back off the slightest bit so the servo will stop humming.
14. Now move your switch to freewheel again. Once there, rotate your back tires by hand and switch the dig into "dig" position. Take a close look at your linkage. Now, start adjusting your dig EPA towards dig (the rear axle). You will be able to see the shift fork rod and the dig outdrive moving out of the case. Take it out until it stops moving and then back off the slightest bit so the servo will stop humming.
15. Now we are almost done! Drive your rig around for a few minutes and then redo steps 10, 13, and 14 to make sure nothing changed.
