I'm with PWT and the Walking Stick name! I was thinking the same thing when I first saw it. But Light stick works too since it's so 'light' weight, lol! Kevin, I gotta say that is the most original, innovative, and advanced clod design I've seen. As a builder I never saw myself wanting to ever buy a chassis but I think you just changed that! If I ever buy a clod chassis then my check is going to you for sure! ;) I was thinking also, if you made different length rods you could offer a choice of different wheelbase's also.......just a thought I had. Keep up the great work! |

Holy Diver, that's an impressive machine! Fantastic work, design and promotion. I can this being the most capable clod crawler ever. As far as 'Chassis Steer' (that's what I call it), it doesnt look to have very much. We've found that a little doesnt hurt when you're actually out there on the rocks. It's only when your axle swings WAY the heck over, due to improper link geometry, that you need to worry... Excellent job! I look forward to video of it in action. Try to get some shots of it vs. another clod of conventional design tackling the same obstacles... Ryan |

hey, what are you guys trying to do! change the name on me! thats ok, it always happens, things develop "un-official" names. thanks for the compliments cman 1500, Rikpal , and rbgerrish. yes, it would be very easy to make different wheelbases. Possibly in the future. i'm definitely going to test out a short wheelbase for a 2.2 sized rig. rbgerrish, i agree with you that a little "chassis steer" really doesn't hurt that much and sometimes is actually beneficial, depending on the obstacle. i have to get one of the guys out that can make some digital movies for me. here are a couple short vids of the extreme slbks5 took with my digital camera: http://www.thecrawlerstore.com/Movie...e_At_BB3_1.MOV http://www.thecrawlerstore.com/Movie...e_At_BB3_2.MOV |

| Very COOL I am still trying to understand how the shocks work! I would have thought they would be on opposite sides to work. I am guessing when you pick it up nothing happens..................when i pick up my truck the spring uncompress. Very interesting |

It's not easy to picture at first. Imagine the shocks are both on the right side as you look at the front axle with the rear axle behind it. Pick up the front tire that you see on the right. The front shock would compress, but the rear shock would want to fully extend. Ths front axle rotates with respect to the stick but the rear does not rotate with respect to the stick. Starting over, pick up the front tire you see on your left and the front shock stays fully extended, the chassis rotates with the front axle and the rear shock compresses. Similar results with lifting the rear tires as well......make more sense? Jay |

| I watched the video a couple of times, so I kind of figured it out. Does the design prevent you from running a traditional body on it? |

hey fishy. you can run any body you want on the truck. one advantage of this chassis is it's narrow. so if you run a wide body that will offset the narrow chassis advantages. but any size body could be put on it. so how's life over by you?

is there any way to use a reg stick pack? like mayb have it be parralel to the axle and above the chassis? or mounted on the body?

in the future, we are planning on making a plate to sell as an add-on that will mount below the backbone so people can use standard packs. but we have not developed that yet and can't promise that it will come to fruition. something like this: Last edited by kevinlongisland; 02-21-2005 at 05:48 PM. |

yes, you loose all that height under the center of the chassis. that extra clearance really helps out on the obstacles. plus, super light battery packs on a super light rig make for an awesome crawler. i've been crawling for over a year and a half with other trucks and this new rig still impresses me.

yes, you could. but that would put the center of gravity too high up and the truck would not be rock solid stable like it is with the small packs placed low on the rear axle.
