No. I don't think delrin would hold the bead as well as alum. Thats the reason I haven't tried. That and hanging on to it during the machining process.

Ok, I thought they might be good because when you scratch them they would not show as well and they would be lighter and maybe cheaper to make. But I don't know!

I haven't actually tried any delrin rings myself. Just thinking about it seemed like they would be weak. Delrin rings are not in my plans.

Delrin is not cheap, Black cost more then white, at least where I get it from. It's a little cheaper then alum. but not by much. The problem is I would have to handle it different then I do with alum. A different process and different fixturing then what I use now. Switching from alum. wheels to delrin wheels is just a few different tweaks in the program, remove all the M8's (coolant on) except for the tap and change the drill and tap from a roll tap to a cut tap, All the fixturing stays the same. So to switch over takes as long as it takes to change prog's.

I tried dying natural delrin once, It wasnt pretty. Maybe with the correct technique it would be doable.

Got them done finally. I started a thread in the tire and wheel section also. Sorry it took so long Mayhem. But it will be an advantage to any one who want the lightweight of delrin and still have color choices Link to the thread= HERE IT IS
