| 3D printed Micro Crawler Rims
These rims fit the Losi Trail Trekker or Losi Micro Rock Crawler rigs. Here are the rims I have to offer. Please read this Information Page The rims have the 7mm hex mount. The offset can be stock, 1/8" or 1/4". An 1/8" offset rim on McRC axles will make the width the same as a Trail Trekker with stock rims. The weight recess is a groove for adding factory weights, or wrapping copper wire, but there are rims without this recess for a more scale appearance. Some rims will require you to modify a lug nut tool so it will fit inside the small hole. I chucked it in a drill press and used a file to slim it down to fit. I have made the rims available on my Shapeways Shop. They're available in durable Strong and Flexible sintered nylon, or Frosted Detail acrylic. The nylon is more rugged and is cheaper, but the finish is not as smooth. The high detail acrylic offers stunningly intricate details but with a higher cost. Here is a comparison of a typical rim, nylon on the left and acrylic on the right. Here are some images of painted Frosted Detail acrylic rims. Last edited by Fungi; 09-24-2015 at 08:05 PM. |

Look pretty good. Maybe a dumb question, but what wheel diameter are these shown? Or can be whatever size needed?

I'll edit the post, they're for Losi Micro, so Trail Trekker, or MCRC. It would be cost prohibitive to do larger rims.

Do the tires have to be glued or can you do anything with a beadlock?

I'ts practically impossible to make a scale beadlock, because the screws are so large. These rims require gluing the tires on. I may eventually try making some beadlocks though.

How wide are the dually rims? I'm wondering if they could be used with a wider tire such as a cut-down paddle tire from a mini-t.

I would love to have a set of the wagon wheel style if you could get it in a bead lock. I under stand though with the screws being to big to look scale though. Let me know if you can do it. |

Hi Billy, The Dually Rim is 1.272" wide, but I can make a rim with any width you want. No need to use a dually rim for extra width. ;) Grandbolin, I have made a true bead-lock. I am still working on trying to make a wagon wheel version. The screws from a normal rim are too short to work, the longer ones (the ones that are left over from tearing apart a Trekker frame and unnecessary parts) work well. I'm looking for a source for them. The rings are no problem for me to make. What offset are you interested in? |
