Yeah, I'm not sure what the designers were thinking when they designed that colossal tranny. I thought for sure it was so a DIG unit could be added, but that looks to be an external unit as well?

I don't see why they couldn't have built a dig into the housing... is there a spur in the there or is it all gear reduction? Does the pinion do all the gearing adjustments?

It was to my understanding that they have a front and rear dig built in.

Yup your right, I just looked at a pic. It looks like it has about 8-9 gears inside.

Here's a picture of the axles side by side. As I measure them the Axial is 102mm hex to hex. The Venom is 108mm hex to hex. It does come with fairly wide hexs though so I am thinking with some narrower hexes you could get rid of most of the difference if you wanted to. They went together well though. Everything seems well made and they feel smooth. The locking/unlocking diff could be helpful. I hope to set mine up with the front on a servo to switch it. ![]() With stock Berg wheel (same offset as stock Axial wheels) and Losi tire the width ends up at 10.5" It looks like the Venom wheels have more offset. I'll post up when I have them mounted.

One thing I saw is the venoms outputs is in the center of the chassis, versus axial off set outputs.

Quite possibly, them measure out within .4mm of each other. Agreed on that. With the widemouth chassis it will be super easy to mount stuff on the side of the tranny.

I wanted to show more build pics but I had to get this done today. I have a buddy that is going to test it at the Sin City comp this weekend. I mounted the shocks next to the lower links on the axles and limited them quite a bit and they could use more limiting. I'm actually quite impressed with the kit overall. I've been a fan of internal and external springs on shafies for a long time now. I need to look and see what Venom offers but I would like to get the differentials to lock and unlock with a servo. Here what I like more on the Venom kit over the Axial, keep in mind that these are first impressions Axles w/ CVD's stock Drive shafts Shocks Wheels but that's just looks Tires seem alright, I'll try them out soon but at least they look great Rod ends seem better What I like more about the ARTR kit more Chassis Tranny is WAY smaller Lockouts on the rear axles Proven strength Either could be taken with a little bit of adjustments and be made into a real competitor. Finished pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice work, funny how a new rig gets you itchin to build something. Looking forward to it's performance evaluation.
