I just got the replacement locker kits in "with the correct servo and instructions". I highly recommend that you remove the top batt tray to install the servo. It will provide more room. While screwing in the Diff-Lock cable adjuster (red part) to the diff-lock servo cable stay (plastic part that mounts near the servo), it snapped in half, or in other words twisted apart. The issue is the cable stay is not threaded, and you have to thread it with the red cable adjuster. Well the thin ALU cable adjuster isn't up to the task, and the cable stay is very hard plastic. So that didn't work! Now its time to rape the other package for these parts. Looking at the threads on the cable adjuster i realized they are the same size as an axel stub. So i used an Axel stub to pre thread the plastic cable stay. wohola now the cable adjuster threads in fine. DO NOT TRY TO CUT THE THREADS WITH THE CABLE ADJUSTER! IT WILL BREAK! USE AN AXEL STUB FIRST TO PRE THREAD IT. I will be calling Venom for replacment parts. Last edited by docfire; 01-26-2009 at 10:36 PM.

Could you post thread pitch/diameter on that cable adjuster? Just in case some one would rather use a threading tap to cut the threads on the cable stay...just an idea.

The parts are being updated at the moment. You can use an M4 tap to cut the threads in the plastic part. If you have problem with the plastic part you can contact us and we can send you a new part. Chris

Thanks, take your time to adjust the locking diff kit. You have to get the slack out of the cable for one thing but the most important point is that you make sure the locking system itself is very smooth and easy to operate before you start the install. You should be able to spin the tire unlocked and with little effort lock the diff consistently without fail. Chris

so i finally got a DX6 and eager to use it, but now I can't get the lockout kit till late feb? hopefully my LHS gets them from their distributor before that! Anyone that has one, does it help to use it even without the dig? In what scenarios? I can see where it would be awesome with a dig and the diffs unlocked.

Well i was starting to hella strip out where the pins go threw the plastic case so i just welded all the spider gears up so i had a permanent locked diff. I might get the DIG when it comes out, but im not too sure yet.

The diff case halves are supposed to wear and dampen the abuse of the diff. The wheel will have more play in time so but this helps prevent other parts from breaking or wearing to soon. We have an alloy option part coming out pretty soon, there is a part number already announced for it. Ive been using the same diff cases for months now. When you add more weight to your rig it would be better to upgrade to alloy diff cases. Chris

venom needs to make an optional spool for there crawlers. Even though my welded gears work, some people dont have the stuff to lock theres, and it would be nice to just throw in a spool.

haha, VERRY true there Steve! I got all the tools a man can ask for, and i can weld all the diffs i want, but unlike alot of people, i have other stuff than RC cars that need welded. But i welded my spider gears solid, if they break then I'm going to have a huge fit!

I just bought the axial lockers to begin with. I assembled one of them last night and everything seems to be very good. It took a little time to grind out the center hole for the axles to fit but all in all I think I will be pleased.
