Thumbs up Differential/gear box Question

Hi Guys,

Im new to this crawler thing. I have a few question though about differential.

Is there really some sort on a noise on the differential that seems like the gear is not properly mesh? Im asking this i observed it on when building the differential. I have tried to disassembled it and assembled it again but cannot figure out what was causing it. or is this normal. I still did not rung the creeper as im still waiting for the electronics. If ever i have done something wrong, please let me know.

One more thing about the gear box, does this thing really very smooth? because when i tried it without the cover, it is but when you put the cover, no matter how i do tried to balance the tightening of the 8 screws, not so much tight, i feel it is like is is misaligned or it is really like this because it needs to be broke in.

Hopefully somebody can shed light to my question. Bottomline, with all the broken axle thing and some bad parts, i still go with the creeper. Hopefully we can get the same support from Venom for international customer. Thank you..

I know both of mine were pretty noisy until they broke in, I put in some industrial lubricant in the gears. That helped quiet it down and run smoother, Mine were pretty hard to run by hand in the begining.

How did you fixed the locker thing? Did you go to the washer route? I think mine also have some problem with the diff lock. When i turn the wheels, i can see that it is disengaging. Does the 3 pin on that red circle is a force fit or not? Mine is sliding in and out of that red circle. I think this is why my lockers don't stay locked even when the switch is locked. I would like to have mine still functional not locked all the time. Thanks..

Mine seemed hard to push by hand at first, and it is pretty loud, but it's quieted down a bit and loosened up. With all the gears it will never be as quiet as a simple pinion spur setup.
