Default Behind the axle steering (BTA)

did the mod today and it works great. thanks for all the info on this site and other members.

btw i used a stock lower link from the venom, cut it and tap it, and bend it some more here and there until it cleared the shock and the upper links.
any questions just shoot me a pm.

later.

looks good

I'm going do this mod one of these days.

Whats going on with the chains? Does that limit your amount of articulation?

i did the mod a couple days ago also. works beautifully. i just used a upper link clears everything perfectly the extra clearance in the front makes a huge difference. i also cut off the screw post off both front and rear axles makes everything smoother. also id get rid of the skid if ya have some extra nuts available. less hang up.

those are my limiting straps, to stop the axle from dropping too much and splitting my d-shafts, no it doesn't limit my flex, maybe a little but no too notice it. also its the bling bling!!! i gotta get a longer drive shaft but don't wanna spend the $ right now.

more than enough flex...

That makes sense.. i was just wondering if you were doing it for the purpose of limiting your flex. I know too much can be a bad thing.

as an update, i gotta say that i love this mod, now with the plate covering the servo i can literally beat on it, more clearance, turning radious is great, the tires stop about 2mm from the lower links, it turns like i have no locker really smooth and sharp. i will definately recommend people to try this mod, fairly easy, no crazy spending cash and all with great results. i also changed my tires as you can see in the pic and it is 100% percent better too.
later.

Is there anyone with the stock chassis that has this DIY BTA steering that would like to share pictures?! Ive been working on mine for a couple hours now and I cant seem to achieve enough clearance between (lets say) the left front shock and the steering link. Under load it limits the shock absorption and restricts articulation. I was just hoping some one had done this mod with positive results and would share clear and concise pictures for those of trying this!

Thx,
Brando

Yeah, i had the same issue, except with the front right shock(i was doing it on that side rather than left). I am also using a custom chassis, but with the shocks in more or less the same position as stock. What i did was i bought some M3 stainless rod, cut the right length and just bent it till it worked. The stock links, even if bent, are just to big diameter sometimes. I think the rod will eventually break, but my servo horn has just stripped and im looking for another. I hope this works for you. Sorry, im not yet sure how to add images, could you help me with that? Thanks
