Post A Collection of Hint's, Tips, Mods for Venom's Creeper

Venom Creeper Hints & Tips

I'm new to the CREEPER and Crawling in general. I thought that having a thread with all the great Hints & Tips you guys have already come up with in one place would make things easier for the newer members.

By no means is this list exhaustive, but just something to get the new CREEPERS a little head start and maybe help some of you “Old Hands” with something you might have missed.

Tips during build
Install Motor prior to battery tray - you will thank me later !!

Several Great tips from "MiniWheeler"

“fubar” lockouts, Custom shock mounts, modified battery tray, adding “anti-squat”

Tranny case with "wings"

Drivetrain

VCD Pins Popping out ?? Here's the fix

Integy HD universal drive shafts for the AX-10 on the creeper!!

Washer/Wire/ShockSpacer Mod to lock Diff

And Another

Rear Steer

Remote Diff Lock

Rear Axle lockouts

Siping Tires for increased side-bite

Axial Lockers

Behind the axle steering (BTA)

Suspension

Droop Suspension setup

More articulation through shock mounting options

Traxxas Shock Modification - GoTo page 10

Battery Tray Removal and shock mounting erector set

Original Erector Set CREEPER

Traxxas Suspension lower Links

More Front Clearance

Creeper to X-Trail Conversion

No pics and NO followup from OP, but it is said to work....

Any further info would be great to have.

Here's a little something to add.
Common problem of the VCD pins coming out an causing havoc with wheel binds/broken C-hubs. Seen a thread on this here already but members asked for pictures to help visualize.

All you need is a few inches of 1/2 inch heat shrink tubing

Just pull out the shaft in a way you could slide the tubing over it

Cut the tubing and slide a piece over

then shrink it with a bit of heat.

Thanks for adding Skullbasher. I couldn't find any pics of that mod to help in describing it. Now that we have some, should help plenty of people out

That should hold em.
Do you get any clearance problems? I notice there isn't much clearance from the C-Hub

Why not make this a sticky and just add new ideas to it when one comes up.

That's why I went through the effort to find threads that might be helpful to me as I was preparing to get mine and build it. I appreciate those that have added to the thread with their ideas and look forward to more people sharing their ideas and tips !

This is very helpful to have all these mods in one place!! Less time searching, more time for modding and crawlin. Thanks to all that have contributed to this.

As far as the CVD pins coming out, why couldnt you just drill and tap them and use a set screw? Even if its only tapped on one side similar to the Revo driveshaft ends. Would that work better if not the best?

Love how none of the links lead back to my build. I've done most all those mods one way or the other. Oh well. One of the first ones to mod these and no love. :(
