| outrunning a creeper
Has anyone tried running an outrunner on a creeper? Im pretty new at the crawling game, but I do have access to a lot of outrunners here locally. The other thing with this is what kind of wheel speed should I be shooting for? Just a close estimate so I can run some numbers.

Mine ha walking pace - about 5km/h I will keep track of my local routes this way. I'm using a bluetooth-GPS that I connect to my PDA - by doing it this way I can reduce weight on the creeper and I can read the GPS on the PDA whenever I want. As the BT has >10Meters range I see no problem with connectivity or dropping signal as I almost always are next to the car anyway (except for filming that is) Last edited by UndCon; 12-21-2009 at 04:27 AM. |

As is right now I'm running stock tires - but will most likely change to something better later on - now we have 50Cm snow here so no rides for a while... stock is:127 x 55 (R2.2) So some calcs should be pretty straight forward...my motor is Fifty-five |

We used to use around 1000 kv outrunners, but the stutter on start up was a killer. Once that can was spinning though, it was alllllll power. |

Yes I know EeePee. Spent many a beer sitting down reading it all. I'm doing some research using some of my aircraft outrunner knowledge to do something about the stuttering. I been chatting with another member and I think both of us will have attempts made in two different directions. I've run brushless exclusively for my aircraft and with a little theory in practice hope to come up with a good endproduct.

What I'm after is that you: know the gear ratio know the wheel diameter know the speed Then you can calculate how many RPM's the motor must have to get similar result...easy maths //UndCon

That is exactly why asked about wheel speeds and then what kind of tire where being run. It would be best to know what the comp guys w/ hb rovers are running for gearing and top speeds.

There might be a few ways to overcome this... By changing the curve on the TX to the throttle and/or by programming soft start in the ESC. If not 1 of the above helps you can try with both I changed the curve to allow smoother start on my Creeper (RX programming) |

| Yeah, I won't have any special programming to do until I upgrade my JR 8103 to 2.4. Then Ill have more than enough channels for my needs.
