Default venom crawler noobie questions

ok i have never been into rock crawling but it looks fun so i ordered the venom creeper kit.
i was looking to keep this a cheap project.
i was thinking about running the novak 45 t motor on an xl-5 esc beacuse i have 3 8.4v traxxas batteries.

what is your guys opinion on the novak 45t?

and also what servo weight should i be looking for? around 200?

I would get a 55t. On the servo get as many oz of tourque as you can afford.

I use the xl5 and a venom 60 turn but I'm gonna go to a 45 or 50 for more wheel speed and I have the rc4wd mayhem servo and it's like 208oz torque and it was 35 bucks I also seen one at the local Hobbytown that was from patriot rc at the same price with 300 oz but haven't tried it yet but to answer your question 200 is plenty but more is always better

It is selectable but just put them in the locked position and tighten the little tension screw down tight and it will stay locked if you don't tighten it the locker will pop out. You can just order you a set of flm lockers so when the stock ones break you will have them on hand. I haven't broke a stock one yet but they sure do have a lot of slack after a few weeks of abuse on lipo.

Ignore the other posts and listen to me lol

I would advise on getting the:

1. Novak rooster crawler ESC
2. Tekin 35T motor
3. Hitec 7985
4. Losi rock claw tires
5. Add your own wheel weights
6. vent the rims not the tires 1/8th drill bit
7. Bullet proff CVD covers Venom Creeper CVD covers
8. FLM lockers (my stock lockers are still working)

and that should do it, Take your time building the kit, use blue lock tight, and go slowly.

Most axles are not factory locked, you have to buy kits to lock them. The Venom is the only one (that I know of) that's selectable. There's a washer mod that can be done while you're constructing that will lock them and eliminate the switch.

There's also a mod for the cvd covers that involves a pop/soda can and some heat shrink tubing.

Both mods can be found in the tips and tricks thread here in the Venom section. You can also do a search to find them both.

Either way you could put the flm lockers in while your building it and don't ever have to worry bout it and also the loken racing VCd covers are a good investment for 7 bucks to keep those pins in and definately use blue locktite
