Masonis1's project creeper

I am starting a new build/update thread on my creeper
Its a red venom creeper kit.

Has Novak Rooster crawler esc and novak 55t brushed motor.
19t pinion,
Stock wheels and siped tires, "white dot rovers coming in"
Custom rear upper link mount,
Long bend straightened out of the rear lower links,
Front lowers sideways with bend curving to be wider on axle,
Front upper links spread,
AE 4 inch shocks on rear, stock on front without internal spring,
EXI D2227 digital servo, 180oz torque, "about to get solar servo, 380oz torque,
Shocks have 35wt fluid,
Front and rear diffs locked.

Thats all i have on the truck now.

Future upgrade:
1. Sv2 esc
2. 70mm upper links
3. 380oz torque servo
4. Paradox pin locks
5. BTL kit
6. Maybe VP rims

Anyone use tape like duct tape to keep the weights from bouncing around inside the rim? When i swap over to the titus 2.2 rims im going to put the weights on the inner rim like youre suppose to. Maybe superglue would work but i dont want to ruin them..

Weights should have double sided tape on them. If not then just pick a roll up.

I use the Red double sided servo tape for my weights.
Servo tape comes in 3 strengths... Not sure what brand mine is but Red is the extra strong stuff.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Solar servos but for the price...

You can beat the price for the servo.

I changed the outside bead to the proline titus 2.2 bead. Looks killer. Updated pics up later.

hey mason are you using the stick on wheel weights like the tire shops use ? if so then after you stick them to the wheel take a roll of electrical tape and wrap the weights tightly with it several times , i have used this method very successfully .

They are the stick ons. I have them squeazed into the wheel, the wheel V's and i push the weights in. They are snug. Then i have the bead on backwards that will keep the weight from sliding out. Seems to work great. And i am happy the mini revo looks even more badass with the new beads on it.

okay so you are putting them in the back of the wheel instead of inside the wheel . i am talking about putting them inside the wheels

Ya, i might do that after i get rovers. I need some new stick on tape.

masonis1 02-22-2012 09:59 PM

Correct me if im wrong, the light blue wire on the rooster would be the black wire and the yellow wire would be red? Am i correct?

I searched google and found that a cc pro bec, 20a, is from 28 to 44 bucks. The 10a one is like 22 bucks. Is that extra 10a make a big difference? Especially sense i will be getting a servo with up to 380oz torque or do i really only need 10a

Great setup, I like the flipped front lower links idea.. for flex, do ur tires rub tho? Mine seem to rub with mine turned in with the small bend.

They rub very limited. It almost limits the truck from steering enough to pop the pins out of the axle. When i get the rovers, they will probably rub even more. But i crawled yesterday and it was as good as it could be.

The abs i used for the axle is really smooth and strong. Im thinking about putting a layer on the skids and pumpkins all around. Also, will be getting the traxxas steel yokes this weekend, rovers, rearlockouts, thats 80 bucks about. I will then start saving for the bec and solar servo.

masonis1 02-23-2012 11:59 AM

So im going to add bullet connectors to the motor and esc so i can swap to the sv2. I am getting a bec at the hobby store and a set of traxxas steel yokes.

I run a Hitec hs-7950TH and use a 10amp CCBEC with no issues. I'm not sure who uses the 20amp, maybe helicopter and airplane guys. Also, the CCBEC Pro is much much larger and could be hard to hide in a small chassis.

masonis1 02-23-2012 02:57 PM

Adding bullet connectors tonight to the 55t motor, then hooking the esc and motor up, getting a BEC and a set of steel traxxas outputs. Should toughen the truck and get me more power. I will hopefully get the rovers and lockouts tomorrow.
