| Going back to my roots!
I first got involved into this addiction about 3.5 yrs ago. I didn't know much about any of this side of the hobby. I first bought a RTR Duratrax Cliff Climber and then bought my first kit,The Venom Creeper! I built the kit stock, then picked up the CKRC Stage 2 suspension kit. I modded an Axial front axle Battery and servo plate to fit the Creeper. I ran a HH Crawlmaster Outrunner with a Mamba Max Pro,and a 6cell nimh split pack on the front axle. I went to my very first comp with this truck. I didn't know anyone there, and I was the only one with a creeper. I did suprisingly well with it. At the time Venom still hadn't released their dig setup, and I just couldn't keep up with everyone using dig. So,I sold off the creeper and built an AX10. Looking back I always liked my creeper. I just picked up a pair of Creeper Axles and I just ordered a new Kit. I have access to alot of tooling that I didn't in the past, and I am looking forward to doing some cool things with this build. From looking around in here,it looks some of you guys have really done alot of work to the Creeper and that is encouraging. My plan is to pick up some of the parts made available now and design my own chassis setup for this build. I am looking forward to getting started. I had just built a BWD 13.5 Whiplash with Axial Axles. I put a set of street tires on it and was running it tru the parking lot at high speed! It was working great until you try to make a high speed turn with the locked axles. It would then Violantly barrel roll out of control. I was thinking I could take a pair of creeper axles and unlock them when playing in the parking lot,and lock them when running FOFF. I'm not sure how well it is going to work, but I'm going to give it a try! |

Hey John if you can do what you can achieve with Dons gear, im sure you can get creative with this. One of our local guys took a creeper to new levels locally up until about a year ago and it was still competitive. With the right mods they seem to work quite well Subscribed. Welcome back.. there are huge upgrades to the creeper available now an like you the creeper was my first crawler an took it to my first comp as well. Like you said, no dig, no good, since I run dig an a fullll paradox'd creeper, it stands up to the moa rigs without question an the guy I crawl with runs a xr-10.. I do better at some things an he does better at others but no problems running all tbe same lines! Can't wait to see what ur knowledge brings to the table..

Keep us posted on the build! Are you going to pick up the diff lock kits so you can do it via radio? That would even be sweeter! Also for FOff make sure to check out some CBRB Titanium axles. Very durable!

Heres a question I have been pondering with this build. How many pieces from the actual Creeper do you need to use and still be able to call it a creeper?... with all of the ideas I want to use,I'm afraid the only thing that would be left are the axle cases!.......so,this really has me thinking, and I have a complete kit and a complete pair of stock axles. I guess that means 2 builds then.......lol,well I will be updating this with some pics soon. I got some really good ideas, now gotta make them happen. |

How much of a stock XR10 is stock Axial could also be asked John. We use Don's chassis, VP upgrades some use RC4WD gear sets etc, is an XR10 still an Axial XR10. Not really, yet it still resembles an Axial XR10. I see the same for your Creeper. If anything it becomes more a hybrid Creeper. Sent from my GT-I9100T using Tapatalk 2 |

as long as the ring and pinion and the axle housings are the stock ones then you can still consider it a creeper |

Which Wedge Chasiss are you using for this build John? i have a mate loaclly i mentioned in the past to you that ran one of these quite sucsessfully locally and his own is going through its own transformation and im sure he would be keen to know if its chassis designed uniquely for the Venom or is it another chassis addappted to the Venom? As his sporty and Pro both going through a major revamp. PM me if you want, Ben |
