Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

Hey folks,

Looks like we may have a good "in" with Dave at Coins & Hobbjes, who knows him and Dave has offered to stock some parts that may be the most popular (and useful) for the RC"ers in the area.

While he has finally jumped on the Axiel bandwagon (sorta), he still only has some traxxas parts on the wall.

Let's hear what you'd like to see in the shop on a regular basis.

I'd start with:

Decent pinions.
Decent ESCs (Tekin, Castle etc)
Proline shocks
Better selection of proline tires? Maybe even 4 of the same model :)
Tires by someone other than proline for choice?
Better, more modern selection of motors
Bullet connectors
XT-60
Raw silicone wire

Etc etc.

Let 'er rip! We can pass it along.

Wish list includes:

Axial spurs mainly the 87 tooth,

Robinson racing 48 pitch pinion gears, the Absolute version if possible in the 12-22 tooth varients.

shock oil in the 60-80 weight range.

The higher end Hitec servos. Really just the 7954 and 7950. A 645 just doesn't cut in in a crawler.

More crawler bodies. I think I bought my last two bodies there.

Sounds good. Thanks for adding MM.

You reminded me that it wouldn't hurt to have aluminum servo horns.

Also, better variety of turnbuckles.

Keep it coming!

1.9" PitBull tires (yes they are that good)
Axial OEM upgrades for RTR's (aluminum link kits, etc)
VP goodies (knuckles, chubs, VVD's)
Holmes Hobbies motors and ESC's

- BECs (I actually bought his only 1, 4 months ago)
- High end Servos (7955s works fine)
- MMPs / Tekin RS
- Bullet connectors
- RR Pinions (3mm and 4mm)
- Drive shafts (emaxx, wraith, scx)
- Full yeti replacement parts! (for our upcoming u4 season!)

There's more, I am sure...

Pitbull tires. Scx 10 and yeti upgrade parts. HH goodies.

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

Thanks Opie. Just to confirm. HH is Holmes Hobbies?

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

HH is Holmes Hobbies. Probably 50% of the people's go to brushed setup.

I wouldn't be a regular customer down there cause I got mikes 4 miles from work. But I'm sure I'll be in there at some point.

Would say axial parts in general be good. Wraith, scx10 and yeti would be the most common imo.

HD gearsets (Reg/UD/OD)
Driveshaft set screw pins 3mm and 4mm
Hinge pins for yeti
Your typical a a arms/chubs and knuckles
Universals and Cvds

Some sort of mip or Junfac driveshafts

Proline and PitBulls maybe some r35 axial tires like Treps and falkens

Crawler innovation foams

Locked up rc or HH spools

Fast eddy bearing kits

Knk stainless hardware

Hot racing items like trans gears and spools

Spring selection like axials and even losi's

Castle bullet connectors

Deans (regular and micro)

A line of popular esc's like HH, tekin and castle

Line of 27-45t brushed motors and possible a couple brushless setups too?

Replacement brushes

Pinion gears

Servos and servo horns (really any decent servo)

I know not all of this is possible but it's a wish list lol

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

I'm compiling a list from everyone's responses. I may talk with him tomorrow when I get the smaller Traxxas rod ends (the one thing he DOES HAVE!!!). :)

I know he won't be able to have everything that we ask for, but at least for the consumables and hop-ups, and perhaps accepting that the baton has been handed from Traxxas to Axial, he should be open to carrying more for the scx10, Yeti, Wraith crowd. More modern and relevant motors, common ESCs etc.

I know he deals with a distributor, so his selection may be limited by that as well. But suffice to say, it can't get worse in there!

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

Although Dave is open to the idea and willing to stock more (a lot more) up to date/desired parts for us, allow me to throw a dash of reality into the scenario.

Keep in mind that the only way this will work and/or potentially grow, is for us all to support his efforts, if we don't make our own effort to go in and 'buy' all these goodies from him... it'll come to a crashing halt.

Secondly: don't expect miracles here, Dave will more than likely approach this from a conservative point of view as he should, it's his money/investment being laid out.
Unless we show him he can move product, we'll never glean any additional wall and/or counter space.

It's a great idea that can/will certainly benefit us all "thumbsup" (thx for posting Scott)

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

Agreed. When I spoke to Dave about this list (will be dropping it off today) Dave was clear about A) he is currently limited by what his local rep carries and B) he wants to make sure that the things he invests in are only a temporary investment, and do not sit on the shelf for eons.

That being said: he was very open and appreciative that we all would even take the time to develop a list among local hobbyists. So I am hoping that at least we can start to see more of the basic 'consumables' being updated on the wall/shelves (currently popular pinions, tires, BECs, connectors, some hop-ups etc).

Stay tuned....

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

Parts list has been handed over to Dave at Coins & Hobbies and he said we should start seeing some of these parts available by the end of next week. I'm 2 seconds from there - so I'll keep you all posted.

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

Was in there today and some of the 'requested' parts have arrived. "thumbsup"

Some of the items now in stock at Coins & Hobbies:
Pinion gears
Spur gears
Silicone wire
Shock oil
Alloy servo horns (Axial)
Sidewinder ESC
Mamaba Max ESC
Castle 10amp & 20amp cc-bec's
Tires
Pro-Line shocks

Dave has done his part, time for us to do ours and go down and buy some of those goodies he's ordered in for us.

I threw down 100 bucks... who's next? :flipoff:

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

I must not have looked very hard.

I was in there yesterday, but just for an Axial 27 turn motor and a can of paint. I like buying my motors for cheap out of egg cartons.

Depending on the price of a sidewinder, I might "need" one real soon.

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

I stopped in there yesterday and he was just putting the stuff in the case. Gotta love the egg cartons :)

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

So I walked in just needing another can of paint and some CA glue....

Saw some Axial servo horns (but only the 25 spline, I had him order a 24 spline for my brother's G6JK kit), some Castle gems, and lots of Traxxas (which I shouldn't complain about since I bash a Rustler and Stampede occasionally).
Still looking for a full set of tires, preferably of the Pitbull variety.

Anyway, somehow talked myself into a Sidewinder, which I somehow justified as a Mamba Max Pro...

Looks like the SCX is going to be rocking Tekin 10.5 brushless at the Tower of Power event! Doesn't seem like any of their 4 events are going to favor low speed smoothness so I figured why not?

Who's next?

Re: Parts list suggestions for Coins & Hobbies

I think he's just got round 1 of the orders in. Can't tell. He definitely grabbed some more proline bodies and the ESCs. But no full sets of wheels though. I think if you ask him as well it will help "nudge" him to keep upgrading the stock :)

I've grabbed a few things in the past couple weeks there. He seems to appreciate the business.

I still need to make it down there at some point. I know opie was there yesterday I believe...
