| Kamikaze practicing. NO need to debate about the rules here guys.
Anyone who was at the Battle Grounds competition this past weekend will know exactly how difficult this gate was. Especially to be able to do it without hitting a gate or rolling off the rock face. Here's a little demo of Jeff Williams (Kamikaze) going through gate #7 on course 1 with only one reverse. |

Kinda looked like the rear straddled the bottom gate for a second.

Did he not stradle the gate marker at .09 seconds. Center line of axle to center line of the ball. If not really close? A stradle is considered a gate (-10) correct? As I see it , it's a -10, BUT GREAT DRIVING. Last edited by JIA's Dad; 07-20-2008 at 10:42 PM. |

It my have, but all 4 tires went through in the intended direction, the straddle rule is for when less than 4 tires go though the gate.

Because he didn't think of it the first time he went through the course. He had one tire from each axle through as he had an axle over the gate. Looked like a straddler to me. |

How in the hell is that a straddle? To straddle the gate would be to clear the gate by having 2 tires on the inside and 2 on the outside. It does not matter if you flip through a gate as long as the tires are in between the gates.....even in the air. BTW....Great driving Jeff! |

Jeff, Now you know why I'm not a spotter. And yes I hated that you pointed out. After sitting with you guys all afternoon shooting the bull, you know I was pulling for you. I had a great time and thanks for putting up with my Sh!T. Did you like the 36 second fight? HAHA!!! J/K He kicked A$$. |

I was the spotter on this course and yes only one guy made it through during the Comp. Tom (Holycaveman) made it with his 5.75" Panthers. He did it with speed and no dig! There is only one way to make it through it as far as I can see and that is to be loosing traction and sliding sideways through the gates. It was a toughy!

That's some fancy driving front and rear dig certainly has it's advantages over front dig or no dig.

Sick driving Jeff. It was awesome to see what great driving looks like this weekend. That gate was crazy tough. I didnt even make it that far on that course. Snapped a rear lockout. Oh well.

Its not a straddle! Jeff (RockCrawler) according to Rule: 7.3.2 - If a wheel touches any object outside of a gate as the other wheel from the same axel passes through a gate it is considered a straddle, a Gate Marker penalty is assessed. A straddle only has to be 1 tire on the inside. In the video the a tire was never between the gate markers when his truck was over the gatemarker. There is no mention of centerline of axles, breaking of vertical plane or any other wording. The rule was thoroughly discussed in RULES Committee, and the definition is quite clear Last edited by Fishmaxx; 07-21-2008 at 08:17 AM. | |||
