| Hi Guys, these are some 'poor quality' clips of my scratch built crawler 'Thunderfoot' undergoing initial trials/maiden tests. The rock crawl (well pile of bricks) was done before the reduction drive unit was fitted which explains why I rolled it so many times, it was a little too fast to crawl properly. I'm saving up for a decent movie camera because these were shot on my daughters web cam! The vehicle has been modified since these first runs to have 65:1 gearing, saddle pack for better weight distibution and lead sheet wrapped around the axle to lower CoG. I've also had to change the spring rates and shock angles to stop the awful torque twist I was getting. I have also removed the smaller blocks from the Swamp Dawgs to allow the tyres to bite better. 1) First few runs http://www.rcpics.net/img/37701 2) First rock crawling http://www.rcpics.net/img/37716 3) Car crushing http://www.rcpics.net/img/37863 4) Climbs better with reduction box http://www.rcpics.net/img/38189 |
