Greetings, I've been lurking for a while, lots of good info here. Finally got my super clod working descently. This was my first ever crawler experience, bought it from a guy and ended up having to do quite a bit to it but got it working descently. still much to do but here are some videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCPFAsmn8nk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNdiA1QFJkU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c_3IludEiM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgprGKuIYuw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TW1ZA8qUZvo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlMMJVSBGI4

Having two Cen genisis trucks I know there is not much side wall for the tires, even with aftermarket tires I would think that a smaller wheel with a tire that has more sidewall for compression would give you much more bite for traction.

thanks. are you saying that the rim itself does not have enough lip/groove for the tires to fit into or that the tire does not have enough sidewall strength or both? I was originally going to do plowboys on XTM thorns as those seems to be a popular setup but could not get my hands on the thorns or the plowboys, I guess both are or were out of stock. thanks for the input, I really appreciate it.

these tires have descent sidewall (panther leopards) I think its supposed to be two inches but I stretched the beads a little too much and only have about 1.5 inches, I plan on doing another set when these wear out or fall apart (being my first cut and paste tire) , how much sidewall would you suggest? thanks for the input, I'd like to get this rig setup up the best way possible.

Great Vids!! Thats a nice super kit. Looks real capable. I just got a super last month and in the process of looking for one, I saw a super put together by the RC Car Action magazine and the body they had on theirs looks exactly like the one you have... any coincidence or story their, or am I just seeing things? Props on the narrowing job. BTW, I think both the plowboys and XTM wheels arnt produced anymore... i think. But I have seen a custom crawler website that do offer plowboys, already narrowed, for a set of 4 for close to, or over $100. Sorry, but just stuff I seen in pass'n and cant remember the exact details. Have tons O' fun with it.

| thanks for the compliments. No connection with the body your referring to. Bought my basic setup on eBay, I wanted instant gratification, ended up having to do sooooooo much to it, should have just pieced it together from the beginning, it ends up that way anyway. Xtm's are no longer sold but last I checked plowboys are still made, they are just a bit expensive. I like the heigth of my tires but they are a little narrow (hard to hook them when scaling a narrow rock, no margin for error and I think the sidewalls are a bit thin, tires grip well but stretch sideways allowing weight to transfer sideways too much. I wish I had made the rims 1/4 wider and cut better foams. I might put together another set and put some wide two stage foams in to fill out the sidewalls better. I really want to compare them against the plowboys but the cost stops me, wish someone would donate some tires for testing and review ;). I think these have more height but as I said are a bit narrow and unstable. [B[/B] Quote:
