Default ORCRC Wednesday Night Comp 4/21/2010...in HD!

Fun shooting something other than scale rigs. Glad the nice weather is coming back to the PNW for the Wed night comps.

I do too. I'll be at Scale Nats and if I can make it happen, I'll try to hit up Nationals in OK. It's only about an hour drive from my grandparents home.

Please do.

It would be nice to get some good Nationals coverage (HQ).

Thanks. I try to capture the action as if you're really there, or at least I try. I really try to avoid any of those aerial views that look un-natural on video. I'm on my hands and knees most of the time when shooting video.

Man it's really awsome when someone takes the time to slice up and edit video that good. SM4Runner used to do a spectacular job out in the Northwest and now you are really stepping up to fill the "Sweet Comp Video" void.

I try sometimes... but compared to yours... I'm not worthy

Great edit!

Hell no! Ask any of the folks that I am around when shooting video, I'm typically 3"-12" from the rigs when their driving. Can't have a camera on a stick and still be able to react the same way.... plus a 3lb camera might be a pain in the ass on a stick.

Toyo what camera did you end up gettin? Quality looks killer. I picked up a new HD camera as well but find editing the footage a PITA. What software are you using now?

I picked up a Sony HDR-FX7 and I'm still using the same old iMovie '09. I have a buddy that is going to toss Final Cut Pro onto my Mac after I get back from Montana so I'll be able to make good use of the video I capture.

What is the file format the sony saves into? My Cannon Vixia saves into .mts files which has really made things a pita. I have both Imovie and Final Cut pro HD, sadly there both the past version and will not support it, and neither will my G5 Mac lol. I've been using sony vegas on my PC, but the playback for editing is so choppy I can't edit it.. Very frusterating.

I like the sounds of that. Sign me up for some of that next time, I think I missed it this time.

The HDR-FX7 uses MiniDV tapes. I'm a tape guy for life. Makes life real easy.
