Oh, it's on! |
Thanks for all the comments guys. I take my camera to all the events and try to video as much as I can. I also obviously insist on being filmed during my runs too. Normally there are a select few that I get to help out with the filming as they have similar techniques by getting down low and getting close etc. The shot makes the editing easier and provides for a better viewing experience for everyone. Then I have the very time-consuming task of editing all the footage, which tends to drag on some months... I normally end up with around 3-5 hours of raw footage for the day, and try to cover all the courses in both 2.2 classes. It's good fun and I'm slowly learning more and more tricks to make it quicker. Cheers, Mike. |

all good fun lads. bring on 2011 comps"thumbsup" its on!!!!!! |
I look forward to your videos every month. They are very entertaining and scenery is usually beautiful. I especially like how you guys have tried to become "Americanized" with calling out "progress" instead of "gate" like you use to.:lmao: |
GREAT VIDEOS! I was able to blow off quite a bit of work while watching them...thanks! My curiosity is killin me though... I'm wondering if ya'll use different rules or something after watching several drivers hit a gate with a front tire and then do everything they can to avoid the same gate with the rear tire. Do you leave the gate in play so that you would have 2 penalties if both tires hit them? I'm also wondering what time limit was in place for these courses. I know the competitions in our area have short time limits which leads to taking a gate in order to gain progress and continue on the course. It didn't seem like that was really an option in the videos... I'm just trying to get a better idea how you had everything set up. |
Hey Ittybitty, The rules are only slighty different to the normal USRCCA rules - we have to get 3 wheels through the gate for progress. We did this on purpose to make it even more difficult, and force us to make much better line choices. I think it's making us better drivers. Our time limits during normal monthly rounds is normally set at 1min per gate. For our State Titles just held recently we tightened them a bit. In general though we have a bit more time than what you see in the USA comps. For 2011 we may tighten them all up some more as some of us prepare for a visit to the USA and hopefully the Worlds. Cheers, Mike. |
Thanks Mike! That makes a lot of sense after watching the videos. I just couldn't wrap my head around why some of you were being so careful to clear a gate after hitting a ball. Your ideas really should make better drivers...line choice is a very good thing to understand! |
