Default Testing dual wheels on the 8X8

I hope to buy an RC boat over the winter, (still arguing with myself about nitro or electric)so that I can cruise the creek with the boat, besides crawling the creek walls with the 8X8...

Thank you.

It uses 2 Tamiya Highlift frames, one is shortened about an inch or so.

The transmission is a highlift 3 speed attached to a GCM T-case. (removed the stock t-case from the trans.)

The driveshafts are all from different Tamiya highlift, the axles are locked tlt's, running 1.9 Tomahawks mounted on Tamiya Hummer wheels.

(EDIT=I made the main driveline from the trans to the t-case. Its aluminum rod with axial yokes, it was cheaper then the long one you can buy from Garden trucking)

RC4WD semi truck wheel nuts hold the fronts on and the ones in back are for looks only. I wanted my duallies to spread the weight out over the tires, so I had to build my own..

I was running an old but brand new Associated DS motor from the late 90's, with a 16 tooth pinion, but switched to a 55 turn motor but had to keep the 16 tooth pinion, (I have no others at the moment) and I don't like that setup, I either need a smaller pinion or go back to a stock 25 turn motor with the 16 tooth.

The suspension, ...I have no clue what to call it, after I dug around in all the 8x8x builds, I just copied the easiest setup.. I think it was from a 8x8 that russ and joe were building at one time on scale4x4

For guidance I use the older Traxxas 2.4ghz 4 channel RX\TX and a Rooster crawler

(Think thats it)

This is my intentions later on next summer, except it will be a boat.

Hope that helps, whats weird is to drive this thing for awhile, then start driving one of your smaller rigs...
