Just for fun I tried to climb the staircase at home after Christmas dinner. Didn`t manage it so I thought you experts here could help me out with some crawling tips. Please comment the video and give me your best advice on how to climb this staircase. Thanks! https://youtu.be/TnREiGtMBgQ |

Get better tires and foams that will actually grip. Add weight to the front end to improve your weight bias.

You definitely need new tires like ElChupacabra said. Where is your battery? I'm assuming it's in the rear. Move it up front. It also looks like you need more power. Do you have a 2S or 3S battery? |

Foams, Foams, Foams..... even great tires need the best foams, weight up front and low will make a difference, underdrive out back can also help Hang up and Drive |

Thanks for all the replies. My current setup is the Axial 35T motor, 2S lipo, 9/56 gearing (original 12/56) and the battery mounted in the front. The speed is not all that good but I love the low end crawling capabilities and I can go superslow with it which I like. Was thinking of going to 3S but I don`t see how more wheelspin culd help me up the staircase Regarding the tires these are the original Ripsaw tires (R35 compound) but I have opened upp all three breather hols and also removed every other row of lugs in the tire which did help quite a bit for more traction. What do you guys recommend for foam for my Ripsaw? I do want to keep these tires for now so foam might be the best option to get them softer. Last edited by waqr; 12-25-2016 at 03:25 AM. |

Foams are the least of your worries right now. Ripsaws, even the R35 version, are not great tires in today's crawling world. I'd upgrade tires before you go getting foams for these. A better tire with stock foams will perform better than these tires with foams.

Come in from slight right. Right as the right rear tire hits the lower step and starts to climb turn hard left until the right rear is almost crested the lower step. Turn hard left until the right rear is on top of the step. Now turn hard right so the front right climbs the second step. As soon as the front left is on the second step turn hard left so the right rear climbs the 2nd step. Rinse and repeat for the third step. Taller tires and high clearance lower links will help. I've ran jconcepts scorpios and ruptures as well as 2.2 tsl xl's in G8. I'm going to try the 2.2 hyrax from proline soon as well. All are about 6" tall. |

Taller tires, wheelspeed won't ever hurt, sometimes that one good rip lets you clear..... Hang up and Drive |
