Default Castle Engineers attempting to crawl for the first time

My co-worker and me went out behind our building today and tried to crawl in a ditch we found. Had some success. Car is a stock setup SCX10 Deadbolt with a Mamba X running the new 2.02 firmware and one of the about to be released 1406 2850kv motors.

I wish i would have read this a week ago. I couldn't wait any longer for a better crawler kv, so i just got my 3800kv sensored 5mm shaft today.

Can you tell me, is the sensor board waterproofed already? There appears to be conformal coating on it.

I'll be picking up that combo when they are released together.

Thanks for the video. Interested in your lower kv sensored motors for sure.

As a MFG can you post the next video with no music. The sound/noise a motor/ESC makes on start up from 0 rpm etc make a telling sound if it is struggling or not. At least that is my experience but could be full of human waste and just a suggestion.

The sensor boards are conformal coated but we do not call the motors waterproof. The sensor connector on the back of the motor is prone to shorting out when water is in the plug causing glitches. The motor will handle splashes of water without issue. If the motor is submerged in water, any water that gets in will sit inside the motor and can lead to premature bearing failure. With any brand brushless motor I would recommend opening the can, letting it dry, and oiling the bearings after anytime the motor is run submerged in water.

edit:
Here is an example of a customer testing our waterproofing. This is not something we condone, but it does work.

I put the music over it because we were talking a lot and as with most people, I'm not really a fan of the sound of my own voice. I still have the raw clips, so I'll see if I can find a decent sound byte of the motor running. It never seemed like it was was struggling to me. Traction from the stock tires was a bigger issue than power.

Can't wait to get some of the new motors that Joe Ford was telling me about. Can't wait to try the 1900kv and 2250kv motors. I already have some on order from are local distributor to sell at are hobby shop.
