Default Dismal Falls Bland VA

Here is a new spot me and jsowens ran today. Awesome spot with lots of good rock, creek crossings, and trails. Excellent place for Scalers and trail running. There also looked like some challenging lines for a 2.2 comp rig also, but def. a good spot for the 1.9 scale rigs.

This is at Dismal Falls, in Bland County VA. about 2 miles off of rt. 606.
Let me know if you want directions on how to get there, or if you want to get together and do some crawling.

Nice spot. I've been there, although not with my crawler.

Good looking spot. Let's use this one for a GTG. I like it, it's closer to me.

How far from Richmond? I think we could get a few 2.2 comp courses built, and I always like to crawl new spots. Any of you guys run 2.2 comp?

awd199, you would love this place. In my opinion its better than the Little River Dam. There's just much more variety and the place is pretty big.

KBrog, I would say you are looking at about 5 hours or so from richmond. I don't run 2.2 any more. But you're welcome to come down and run. There's some pretty good spots for 2.2 here.

Anyone interested in coming down that has a long drive, this place about a mile from a nice campground with restroom facilities. So you could come down and camp and crawl.

Also, keep in mind if the water level is up, this place wouldn't be as good, but still pretty good, and not as easily accessible. Right now the water level is WAY low.

According to mapquest, it's roughly 4ish hours from Richmond. I still run a 2.2 rig, I don't comp, but I run one and would be up for setting up some courses. I'm down for a GTG most weekends. A Sunday would be perfect since I usually work until 5:30ish on Saturdays.

I will bring my Berg along with me when we have a GTG if anyone wants to set up some courses.

I've been crawling some with Jeff & Adam at my house, he said Adam had new spot to crawl. Am I in the right place?

Doug, Yeah, this is the spot i was telling Jeff about. I live In bland co. now. 4 miles off exit 62. So, im not that far from your place. It looks like youve done some awesome work with bridges and signs at your little park there, love it, its looking good. Hopefully when Jeff and the guys come back over I will be able to come too.. My schedule is crazy at times and its hard to find time to do anything.

I kinda figured that was you but not for sure. I was trying to find old photos of that day you guys came over. I was pretty sure I recognized the Honcho but it's been a while. Yea, the backyard course has become a bit of an obsession & since I watch the kids on Saturday, it makes it easy to crawl. Jeff an I have been trying to coordinate a day for a while now. it's been so hot. September is looking good.

Dismal looks nice. it's good half way point between us.

Adam and I have been crawling this spot a couple of times now and it's definitely a lot of fun. We should try to organize a big GTG in the upcoming weeks on a Sunday. The more folks the merrier and we could bring out some tennis balls to set up some 2.2 lines, as well as trail run some scalers. Any weekends that won't work for you guys in August/September?

The only weekend i know i can't is the 27th, 28th. I have to work all weekend. Other than that, I can pretty much do any sunday as long as I know a little in advance so I don't plan anything else.

Sunday's are tough for me. Saturday's are best but if you guys come up with a date, post it & I'll do my best to get there. I may be able to pull off a Sunday, depends on the wife's work schedule. Seems like it's going to be a little cooler in the upcoming weeks.
