| Great Falls last sunday........bummer
A friend and I took our scalers to Great Falls park last Sunday and were crawling up some rocks at the "look out" closest to the visitors center when a park ranger came over and told us to leave. I asked "why"? He said that there are precious insect species on the rocks that we are disturbing. He said this as 4 or 5 kids were climbing up the rocks to get a better view of our trucks, and they were not asked to leave or even get off the rocks. I was so shocked at his reason that I laughed at him which he did not think was funny. Then he said we can play in the grass but not on the rocks. I decided to leave before loosing my temper and getting into trouble but I did ask him on the way out if he was a ****ing entomologist (insect doctor) cause' there are plenty of godamn insects in grass too.........dumb shit. He said he is going to call the police and I just shook my head and walked away. I've gone there plenty of time and when it gets crowded I leave. Has anyone else had an experience like this? The park ranger looked a fag that had stolen Harry Potters glasses by the way. |

VARCOR had a comp up there last Saturday, I did not see any Park Rangers. The only insects I saw were millions of fawkin spiders, those damn things were every where.

Dude, that sucks. I've been there several times, it's actually one of my fav spots and I've never encountered a problem. I also stay away from the "look-outs", way too crowded, especially when you start to draw a crowd, which RC'ing has a magical way of doing! For scale driving, I head past the lookouts and where the path forks I head to the left. There are some spectacular places deeper into the park. With the amount of people that go to the park it could have taken just one person to complain that you were "in the way" or impeding the flow of "pedestrian traffic" to a ranger and bang, you're out. Pack up a back pack and head deep into the woods, there are PLENTY of out of the way places to crawl, scale or comp, to where you won't be interrupted. Let me know if you are interested in going back, and I'll try to meet up with you and your buddy and show you some of the spots I mentioned. Good luck man! |
