At the club level a run what you brung policy regaurding scalers will allow more to participate and have fun. Loose rules as far as vehicle requirements go and simple driver rules to make it fun.

We are serious about our comp rigs, scale doesnt have to be as serious to allow all levels of crawlers to have fun.

I agree about making you a better driver (but still think it is silly to penalize it)...but winching being gay....we can never be friends.

Some of the best scale runs we've had is knowing that if your rig falls into a hole or whatever the only way it is getting out is by cooperative teamwork/winching. Take your hand of god shit and shove it!

That's cool for scale runs but in a comp there is no team work aspect.

Not everyone has a winch on their rig and it would be easier to not make it a requirement.

Trying to emphasize fun here, why so serious?

Because it is more fun to argue over the internet than agree!!!

So, what are our options for locations next weekend?

I don't want to argue with anyone, I want to do whatever will bring out the most people and give them the most enjoyment to hopefully grow things around here.

VARCOR is a USRCCA club and with the new scaler friendly class thats upcoming (Trail Comp) I would like to support it especially since a few of us travel to National events where the class will be ran.

Location options, well considering all the rain and snow lately, Fredricksburg is likely the best option.

Hell if all you looking for is fun. set up some gates and have a trail run for bragging rights. Its always fun to push your rigs to the limits just to see the next guy can make the same line.

That's essentially what trail comp is.

We meet at 8am but we will be running 2.2p and 2.2s comp classes first so if your coming for scale you could wait until 11-12 probably.

With all the weather past, and the focast for next week. It is not looking good for Belle Isle. Belle Isle is almost completely under water right now with not much chance of being any better next week.. Even FHP is a rapid river at the moment. Fredericksburg may be the same. I have to go to MD this weekend. If I get the chance I'll go by the Frederickburg site to check it.

We may end up having to move the comp out to Feb 22 or Mar 1 due to the high water.

After reviewing the last few posts, ROWDY RACING is correct. VARCOR is a USRCCA club. Any comp we have that is for points, and a spot at a nationl level invite will follow USRCCA rules for all classes.

A GTG, or a GTG after or durring a comp can follow any rules.

2.2p and 2.2s are 2.2 comp rig classes.

Trail class is open to 1.9 and 2.2 scale type vehicles.

Anyone is welcome to come anytime.

Hey Rowdy, I've never comped at all and was wondering if the USRCAA 2013 rules the most up to date? You guys got me wanting to consider it.
I didn't see rules for scalers on there, but I didn't read it completely yet. Is it the same as SORRCA scale rules 2014?

Off topic: Any of you guys use oxy/acetylene torches?

In short, no it's not the same. Read posts 17 through here of this thread.

Thanks Ramination. Got it.
Sorry if I seem lazy not to dig thru threads, I got a headache so makes me not want to scroll and read to much.
Besides comp's and rules are all new to me. Never paid any attention, never had anyone to drive with.

Not the same, MUCH simpler, will be like you saw us comping at Difficult run, would love to have you come out.

The rules for 2014 are the same as 2013 except for the addition of the new class which uses the same rules.

With the giant snow storm coming Saturdays comp may have to be moved to the following weekend, we shall see.

Thanks Rowdy, Difficult run was fun. I'll try to make it out. I'm on major job search at the moment. But I thought I'd compile the rules and get familiar with all the different class's and what not. I do want to build a comp rig and I got a idea for another scaler I want to do.
Thanks again everyone!
You all should check my blog I'm working on a "steampunk'ish" Raccoon Skull which looks pretty cool thus far.
