Default New to Crawling RC in Manassas

Just stopping by to stay hello, I'm new to scale crawling but have done 1:1 for years with my wrangler. Sold it off and got the itch and found these, money pits but way cheaper!

Have a Wraith position spyder stock decoy geared down 16/84 and did the battery move with ESC in bed.

Have Yeti on back order with Tower now.

Just looking to find some good places to run.

Shawn

Welcome!

You are definitely right, R/C can be a money pit, but it's nothing compared to 1:1.

I'm new to the crawler/trail scene too. If I find some good spots, I will let you know. I'm still building my truck but I hope to have it ready soon.

Hello guys, The crawlers in our area are mostly alligned with RCRNV ( Radio control racers of northern virginia ).
We communicate on our facebook page.
For the most part, we crawl/trail at Prince William Forrest Park. There's all types of terrain, water etc.
Look us up

Chip

I will definitely keep my eye out.

RCRNV doesn't seem like a good option for meeting other hobbyists. The poster above, chipgibbs, is great, but the other members of RCRNV seem to be lackluster.

They won't respond to messages or emails, so I'm done. There are too many good people/groups out here for me to deal with that.

I look forward to seeing you post some stuff in the future.

Nevermind. Just read this. I'd like to know more about what happened. I'm local in Manassas and have a blast. Also, I don't come on this page often at all, so I'm wondering who you tried to deal with and what medium you used to contact them....

I joined the facebook page. Later that same day, I saw that they were all getting together at the park in Prince William. I made a post asking for specific directions on how to find everyone once I'm in the park (it would have been my first time and the park is pretty large). A gentleman (I'd have to go back and get his name) gave me a nice response with specific directions.

Twenty minutes later, I'm kicked out of group. Several polite emails and pm's went out through facebook and were received, but no one bothered to respond.

I'm not saying that they are bad guys, but why run a "club" or "group" if you aren't going to do it right. I guess that is the organizer in me talking

I just need to start my own group and show them how to do it. I would certainly treat new members with respect and make them feel right at home.

VA-Scaler is a great group of guys. Me & my 9 yr old son have been to two or three of there events, and had much fun! Their next event is Oct 5, not sure of any details yet, other than them working on clearing a spot around Winchester. Search for VA-Scaler for more information.

I myself just moved to Gainesville, VA from Ashburn. I'll be looking for some spots to crawl around. Usually end up going to Great Falls. I also mountain bike on the weekends, and have seen some great spots around Lake Fairfax that would entertain for hours!

National park service ranger dick told a group of us "no more rc in the park".
No specific reasons were given.....as if they had a reason.
