Default Radford/Blacksburg/Christiansburg areas

Anyone from the Radford or surrounding areas? Here is a little spot me and my buddy crawl. A natural dried up creek in radford. Its always dry, unless theres a severe storm. Its a fun place to crawl, just got to watch out for the vicious turtle who shows up pretty often.. Wondering if there are any others in this area that know some good spots to crawl.

A couple of us from the Pulaski area crawl up on top of Draper Mt. at the overlook (Draper side).
It's pretty grown up now and known to have several snakes around (Copperheads & Rattlers) but
once fall starts we will probably be going back up there more.
I notice one of you has a Venom Creeper, my friend has one also, seems to be a good crawler.
I have a Scorpion & a TLT based crawler. Theres also 2 other Scorpions, another TLT, and a MRC
in our group.
Give me a yell sometime and we will see if we could all get together and crawl.

Good looking spot. I am not too far way, Dungannon. We need more crawlers in the SWVA area.

yeah it's a pretty fun place to crawl. the rocks go from smaller to bigger going down the creek bed. adam (adale4130) is the one with the creeper and i have the rs10. we found another spot recently that is made up of mostly shale rock and also has a pretty big rock pile off to the side. i'll snap some pics of that spot later this evening if we go there and post them up. send one of us a PM and we'll exchange info and directions to the spots.

Yeah we have anywhere from 3 to 6 or more guys that run together on occasion depending on what and where we run.
We run crawlers, scalers, monster trucks, rigs, slashs, etc etc. lol

Always looking for more places to crawl.

here are some pics of the newest area we've found. it's between Radford and Christiansburg. our rigs have changed a bit since the last pics as well.
this place looks like a jumbled mess of big rocks at first glance, but there's actually a fun line all the way from the ground, up around the rock pile, and back down. off to the side of the rock pile are some small shale cliffs that are a lot of fun to mess around on, even though you slide around a lot. crawlers posed in the first couple of pics for scale.

I live in TN, but come to the Blacksburg/Christiansburg and Radford areas quite a bit for work.

Usually its a couple days during the week - couple times a month. I might be able to come out one evening after work - when Im in town.

Ive been looking for some rocks in the area, but so far havent seen any.
Good to know that there are some out there.

Could you give some directions, or landmarks so I could go check them out?

If your interested in checking out the area on Draper Mt. its easy to find. I-81 south exit 89b (Pulaski/Hillsville) it will be the first exit this side of the bridge. Continue right (as the exit goes) for about 1 to 1-1/2 miles up the Mt. It is the overlook on your right. Go up the stairs and back into the trees. (Just watch for snakes, Copperheads & Rattlers are known to hang out around there) That's why we are waiting till it starts cooling down to go back.

I definitely want to check out the rocks up at Draper Mt. Could be a good venture for the fall. The spot in the first pictures that were posted of the creek bed is in front of the Dedmond Center at RU right next to the New River. You go around the Dedmond Center and into the parking lot directly between the Demond Center and the river. Go to the far left of that parking lot (if you're facing the river) and into the trees at the very end of the parking lot and you'll see the creek bed.

The second spot with the big rock pile is on Radford Rd. between Radford and Christiansburg. If you go a couple of miles out of Radford you'll pass a gas station on your right called the Triangle Mart (I think) and immediately after that you'll see a small custom sign/shirt/sticker shop, also on your right. The rock pile is directly behind that shop.

I know of a bigger creek bed in Pembroke that is dry pretty frequently that I plan on checking out soon. Not sure if it has any good rocks, but I'm out there often so it's worth looking into. If you guys can't find these spots or wanna meet up to crawl drop me a message

shadowwalking.. have any of you pulaski guys checked out the drainage ditches in Randolph park in Dublin? jsowens and I play disc golf there every now and then and have been meaning to go check it out. There are 3 huge drainage ditches with i would say softball to basketball size gravel. I've never crawled it, but when i was there last time i remember thinking it looked like a good spot to try out sometime.

That may be our next adventure.. We always have our eyes open for good rocks.

Default Randolf park

My cousin has crawled at Randolf park he didn't care for it much because of the small rocks. We personally prefer natural rock formations. However its still fun to crawl about anything.

HEY Shadow its me JD

The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow. I may try to head that way tomorrow. I looked at the map, looks like exit 105, circle back across 81 make next left, cross river, parking just past bridge on right. Is that correct? adale4130 I will pm you my cell just in case if you all have a change of plans.
