Default Scalers in Wheeling area ??

Looking to do some wheeling in Wheeling. Been scouting out creek beds and such but it seems theyre partially inaccessible or too deep. Where's the best spots? Been thinking about the lock & dam on the Ohio side but most of it would be for comp crawlers...... ideas? gtgs??

The Yorkville side of the Pike Island dam is great for comp rigs, but also has plenty of challenges for scalers.

i got to see the WPAC have a comp there but it rained right afterwards. didn't get in the way or ask too many questions as they were pressed for time. thought about charging up the lipos and heading out there this evening since the better half works till 10 tonight, try out some setup changes and have a blast before the weather gets chilly.....

I live in Bellaire and at the moment only have comp crawlers.I am going to build a scaler this winter. I'm a member of WPAC, and we have a winter series coming up at the crawl space in Beaver,PA. They have a scaler course there for the winter time blues. You should come check it out sometime. Also our club is starting to have more Scaler events. If you want to check it out sometime LMK.

that would be really cool. i am on the verge of building a one-off tuber and will probably rob parts off my scx10 to get it going, i always try to make a scaler do what only a comp rig is capable of. i dont ask for much, just that it goes anywhere!! so this rig will be much more capable than an out of the box truck kit. maybe we could work out a deal and get you scalin faster with my leftover parts?

One thing that BuckImod has no lack of is extra parts. We just need to get him motivated to build a scaler...and keep it.

i think i'm gonna keep my scx10 together just for sanity purposes, and build my tuber from the ground up. i think i found a good local crawl spot thats fast to get to aside from the yorkville dam... heritage port in wheeling has some nice rocks to mess with, i might have to pack the scaler up and check it out after work....

i'm torn between building a 2.2 MOA comp rig or a budget bulletproof scaler out of the tuber chassis headed my way (eventually) cause i would hate to make it sit on the shelf just for rox when i could bash it creekside as well. looks like i'll be making 3 or more of these..... theyre starting to multiply like my tattoos and old 1:1's around here...... least they take up less space!

There are some rocks at Heritage port, but not alot. It wouldn't be bad if already in the area, but not sure about driving too far for 'em.

Check out www.wpac-rc.com. We have scaler get togethers at least once per month along with USRCCA style comps once a month.

What's up neighbor?

BRUSHLESSAX10 and I are right outside of Bethlehem. I have a 2.2 scaler and you can guess what Nate runs. We are just bashers mainly but like to challenge ourselves whenever possible.

Pike Island is a cool place to run. I used to crawl out at Dunkard Fork dam in Viola years ago. The spillway there was awesome. Haven't been there in a while though. Out Big Wheeling Creek and Middle Creek their a few spots that are fun but you have to walk across the creek to get to most of them. We mainly crawl the woods around where we live.

Let me know when your going out next and I will try to make it. I'll try to get Nate to tag along as well.

i think we all are waiting for the spring weather to break. cold weather is hell on lipo's too.. shortening runs. i'm sure we will find lots of places to run before too long. dry or not, bound to be a killer spot..
