I'm thinking I may be able to make it around 10:30. What lot do you want to meet in?

I'm not sure which parking lot would be best to meet in...but I think the EASIEST parking lot to meet in would be the second parking lot as you're pulling into the south section. In other words, you pull off of Green Bay Road ( Hwy31 ) and you're driving East on HwyA. After about 100 yards you have the choice then to enter the park to the left ( North ) or to the right ( South ). Pull into the South section...and there is a parking lot right there visible from HwyA. My cell is (262)496-6394. I'll aim for 10:00-10:30 also. Not sure if I'll have my kids with me or not. Don't forget your cameras...AND YOUR DEEP WOODS OFF |

Hey guys...bad news...I won't be able to make it tomorrow after all. My wife got called in to work tomorrow ( personal banker...sheesh...whatever happened to "lush" bankers hours :-( ). Anyway, her branch is open 10-2...which means she'll be gone from 9:30-2:30. This means I have to arrange a sitter. My 7 year old isn't a problem...but the 6 month old would not do good, plus with the mosquitos and all. Well, my folks aren't able to do it. Another weekend shot in the a$$. Anyway, if somebody takes pictures, keep me in mind! |

RIght now, it depends on weather. Looks like tomorrow is supposed to be pretty rainy, though.

Bummer...well we'll have to make plans for another time. Do weeknights work out for any of you? Depending on how far of a drive you guys have...I live about 20 minutes south of Pets in Pleasant Prairie, but I work in Milwaukee so if we could do a weeknight I could stop easily on my way home. Maybe with a weeks notice? Time to let the wives / girlfriends know what's up? |

Affiliated? I wasn't part of the management out there, but I know the guys that ran it...became good friends with many of the guys out there. And when I ran Midwest Nitrocross we always stopped at Thunder for a venue.

Thunder WAS located in Elkhorn. They closed it down last summer due to lack of participation. They had an outdoor offroad track, an outdoor banked dirt oval, and they were working on an indoor track when they decided to finally pull the plug. Just another reason I decided to put more energy into rock crawling. There is no huge amount of stress having to organize a group of people to help with track rebuilds and maintenance...running the races every weekend. Especially when the turnout kept going down. I don't blame them at all for wanting to pull the plug...but it sure does stink that they are closed because it really was a close knit group of guys out there. I continue to see them over the winter and spring racing indoor at S&N's in Milwaukee. I'm also hoping to help convert a couple of them over to rock crawling |
